My cat did this for a few years when she was young. She only ever got the common city birds, not the natives, so I wasn't worried about it EXCEPT when I had to catch and humanely kill the poor things. But I'd mostly ignore it and make no fuss so she stopped thinking she was impressing me. Then, over time, she just got fat and lazy and stopped bothering. That sounds gross but your Finley thinks he's bringing home the bacon for you! Maybe ignore him and he'll grow out of it.

Even with a bell, they have ways of moving that will keep the bell silent. You can put him in a figure 8 harness, on a rope that will limit his range. That is really the only option unless you keep him indoors. And cats really do adapt to being indoor, provided they can look out windows, etc.

I agree about the collar and the bell. But cats are natural hunters and we help them (gasp) by playing games with them and the toys they play with. We hold the string and flip it, the cat watches and JUMPS and grabs the string, toy, paper, whatever. That's how mama cats teach their young to hunt. That's what we inadvertently do by playing with our cats.
So, use a collar and a bell and the birds will have more warning.

Cats are natural hunters, and need to stalk things. Bringing the dead birds (or parts of them) is your cat giving you a gift! He feels that he's providing for you, so please don't punish him.
Now, I would recommend first and foremost - please keep him indoors from now on!! Indoor cats are healthier and live longer. Please make sure his shots are up to date - birds and other wild animals may be diseased.
Also, invest in some toys. I find that toys with feathers are the best, especially feathers on a stick. They resemble birds and encourage your cat's hunting instincts in a safe way. Catnip mice are also great choices. With toys, you get to interact with your cat by playing with him - everyone wins! You get time with your cat, and he's occupied and getting exercise :)

cats kill birds. the only way to stop it would be to keep him inside. if that's not an option, make sure he has all his shots to protect him from diseases the birds (or whatever else he may kill) may have.

put a bell on his collar that will ring loudly to scare of the bird. Also he brought you that heart to show you that he loves you.Don't scold him though because you might hurt his feeling.
Don't say cats don't have feelings because they do.
