it will remove all data , you will have to re-install the operating system and all your applications . You will lose all your own files too.
You should be able to just delete files and use the tool in internet explorer to remove the browser history and cache .
The search tool on the start menu will find all pictures and video. Then you can pick what you want to delete .

Formatting alone cannot remove all traces of previous data from the hard drive - it just makes it harder to see, but not impossible to someone who is determined enough.
For greater security you would need encryption software which writes a series of 1's and zero's.
That said, if you put a new operating system on the hard drive and then begin to add new data and software to it, it becomes harder and harder to find the old data.

There ARE ways of getting information back from a formated drive, however it would be unlikely anyone would bother to go through the entire process if they hadn't got a reason to.

Yes, but you dont need to do that unless absolutely necessary.
I use Norton Utilities "Wipe Info" option to do a government wipe on my free space to get rid of stuff I've deleted on my hard drive.

most of the data using standard format/reformat can be retrieved using special software. there are softwares out there that can shred your data to the point where it cannot be retrieved. try using that instead.
