Just wondering because I wouldn't be able to pack the keys in a locked suitcase.

I have never had any problem taking keys in my carry-on luggage or just having them in my pocket.

If you do carry them in your pocket, make sure you take them out going through the metal detectors, so embarrassing!

Yeah, they are fine. You can either put them in your carry on bag or in your pocket. Just remember to take everything out of your pocket while going through the metal detectors.
