my husband and i are slightly worried that he wont be able to get a great job when he gets out. he's currently in iraq. he gets out in oct. 08. he had an article 15 awhile back. he just recently got promoted from priv. e1 to e2. hopefully he'll be at least a specialist by the time he gets out. any suggestions on where to go to find a good job where this isn't going to be worthless to our future? we are hoping he could get a job at a local base working as a civilian. but we're not sure how easy it is to do that. if you have suggestions or answers for us, please reply. thanks.

Work is an individual persons challenge, or opportunity. If you interview with the attitude that you want to be part of the solution to the problem a company is having, chances are you will be hired on the spot. Former military personnel are popular with employers today. They respect this demographic for having served the country. They respect the discipline and work ethic that normally follows these people into a job, and their ability to accept and not question authority.

Security jobs are really hot right now, especially for former military. Homeland security, air Marshall programs, FBI, plus a myriad of less formal security opportunities await you both ! Don't discount local, County, state, and federal police work, either . Unless you husband did something really naughty to get busted, it may not hurt his chances for work. Remember, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Good luck to you both !

it depends on what he does. there isnt much use for infantry in the corporate world. but if he has a more tech/mechanic job, he could find an ok job. his article 15 wont affect his job pool when he gets out, as long as he doesnt keep screwing up and getting OTH discharge

one possibility, if he wants to work on base, is security. most bases have civilians work the gates.

It should not be to hard depending on what he wants to be! What he has in his favor is that about 70 to 80 of all Americans are against the war in Iraq! He should consider going back to school first though!

you're a little ahead of yourself. He should try to have a job lined up for when he gets out, but he can't do that yet.
He could start looking at Government jobs and deciding what career field and geographic areas to concentrate on.
