I want to make some old fashioned homemade cookies but all of the recipes requires you to make 4 dozen of them and I can only give so many away.

If I try to freeze them, will the cookies still be good when I decide to get them out?

Why dont you only bake half the batter and freeze the rest of the dough?

You can freeze them. But even better, you can freeze the dough so that you can have freshly baked cookies next time.

Either way, it should stay good for at least several months. Make sure you use heavy duty freezer bags or containers so that they don't absorb any odors from whatever else is in the freezer.

Oh and by the way, "4 dozen" cookies only happens if you make very small cookies. Most cookie recipes will make enough to feed a few people for a couple days.

Ice particules will probably make them a bit soggy after defrosting. Put them in a hot oven for 2 mins to crispen up again. Cant you try and divide the recipe into 4 and only make 1 doz? You could try freezing the mixture, thaw and then bake. Good luck

Yes, I love them frozen but best fresh out of they oven. I will be the same just thaw them for half the day or put them on medium power for about 30 seconds to 1 minute. We freeze our cookies all the time! :)

Use the recipe on the back of Toll House Morsels-- it's not for that many.
