I'd leave because it would appear that he thought God was someone other than himself.

And this is relevant how? Yes. I would even let him do the surgery if he said he didn't believe in God. If he was the best in his field I'd let him do the surgery if he was a Muslim.. Do you even understand how hateful and malicious your question truly is. You atheist condemn Christians for being Judgmental and yet think that because a surgeon may believe in God and say that His God controls the knife Meaning his hand You judge that as a bad thing to be ridiculed. You are the biggest hypocrites in R&S. If anyone is playing by a double standard its you.

In A Heartbeat! God controls everything. So if my surgeon said that I'd feel safe.

Having two opened heart ops, I had total faith in my God, I believed that God guided the surgeons, so much that God looked after me in those times(still does of course). The surgeon said to me ,"How come you're still alive, you died 5 times you should be dead". My answer was God is lookng after me what was I to fear, left my surgeon looking amazed, Praise the Lord, for many times he has helped me.

One thing that needs to be made known is that God is in control of everything and everyone whether they want to believe that or not. Think about it even when we don't realize it he is there. The fact that the doctor would even say that is reassuring to me. In essence YES, I would let him do the surgery.

being atheist. yes i'd let the Officially Licensed and Trained Surgeon who has done more than one surgery do it. I would much rather have a someone who believes whole heartly that some uber great power will make sure i come out of it alive as long as he does his best than some rushed doctor whos been prescribing himself a few too many energy pills.

I'd first ask him what he meant by that statement before deciding to get a different physician.

If he was saying that in a figurative way, I'd be okay. But even my fundamentalist pastor would say that God gives us brains to use. A surgeon's talents can be god-given (ok atheists go ahead and thumbs down me for this) but God shows example after example where people use God's wisdom to guide them, but they still carry out the physical aspects of the job.

I'm not ready to die. I'd feel like I was on a sacrificial altar, so no way. isn't that what they used to say when sacrifice is made by the representative of a Deity?
