Ok now
YA plays with psychology of a person in numbers and points and levels , people here play with thumbs up and down, so try to avoid these traps.

rest you got from others

I can only talk with experience of R&S.

Don't assume that everyone here shares your beliefs. Or if you do, please don't be offended if people disagree.

Don't get disheartened, it's really a great place, although sometimes the children fight a bit dirty!

Give it time. Read not just other people's Q&As but go to their profiles and see what else they have written to get a better idea of where they are coming from. When you find someone you find talks sense (or amuses you or whatever) use the My Network thing to link to their Q&As.

Remember you have a life outside Yahoo! Go visit it every once in a while or it may leave you behind!

There is no hard and fast rules to adopt in YA. Here your purpose of participating should be to learn more from others and to import your knowledge to others. You answers should have always an edge over others for getting selected as best answer.

Do honest attempt to answer the question selected by you without hurting any other religion and it is enough. There is not other dos and do nots, ther than that of mentioned in TOS.

I am amazed by some of the answers that you should not bash Islam. Believe me its a pastime for few of us.

Would you not like to delete questions like "Why Quran shouldn't be used as a toilet paper or Was Mohammad a rapist or peadophile ?"

What I suggets you to be a quick learner and plz do not feel bad or harassed when somebody hits you.

Above all share your knowledge with us by answering the questions instead of asking too many questions.

First of all, Hearty Welcome to the community :

Answering:
1) Give your honest truth about the question(Sometimes you will not know the answer, it is fine too). Thats a time you can learn from other's answers(Mark the questions with star[similar to bookmarking in Internet], so you can find the answer right away)
2) Try to give your belief, or what you feel(Sometimes you might feel like adding, editing your reply, It is perfectly okay.)
3) Avoid opinionating, or avoid arguments, etc
4) Do not take things personally, if any question is asked generally(even if it seems directed towards you)
5) Remember, others reply to the question you've answered might or might not agree with your reply(That is ok)
6) Be genuine and polite to answer the question. Try to answer it as if your answer is like a gift to a king or a respected elder in your family.

Asking Questions:
1) Do research for the question before asking(Sometimes the question is already asked, so save time)
2) Try to use key words to get the question across and equally important is to choose the category you've asked the question.
3) Keep it simple, grammatically correct, to the point.

Generally, you will see some people's reply, beliefs are similar as yours, you or they tend to become fans or your contacts. If you wish, you can allow them or ask them that you want to be their contact. Ask yourself, are you doing truth to answering the question, or you in a quest to become something. If you gravitate towards becoming something, Please don't put your ego in front of the question or an answer. Avoid arguments, use of profanity, words of yellling, derogatory words(Capital words is considered yelling in internet terminology) or bad words in the forum(you might end up losing your question, and depending on the severity of argument, or accusation, you might lose your ID too)

Best of luck, and Have fun at answers.yahoo.com. :-)

dont ask a question thats gets asked every day like:
what is the meaning of life?
or why are there atheists in R&S?
or how can an atheist have morality?
or mention pascal's wager.
or pretend that jesus is the reason for the season.
(christmas and easter are pagan celebrations
of the changing seasons.)

do not say anything negative about islam or mormons... that will get you deleted... but you can say anything else you like... unless someone reports you...then the YA Gestapo will slam you with a violation... and if you get them really mad they will delete all of your Yahoo account with no right of appeal... there is very little rime or reason to the way YA decides what is and what is not a violation... state your opinions and take your chances like every one else.

You need to grow a thick skin for all the bashing that goes on no matter what the rules are supposed to be.

1.) Never bash Islam on an elementary, infantile level. Do it with wit and grace.

2.) Never argue with the Muslims. They will collectively report your every Q&A (no matter how innocent) until you are banned.

3.) Never ask why Muslim women get beaten. Yes, we all know it's in the Koran, but trust me, don't do it.

do be polite and respectful .... others wont , but kill them with kindness
do wear a thick skin ... some harsh words on here
do speak your mind .. we all have one and should be allowed to be honest
do be careful who to allow to your friends list ... not everyone is who they seem , and some people stalk questions just to have them removed
make your profile private if you choose .. this is a safety precaution to prevent the above

and do have lots of fun !
and welcome xx
