as long as her breathing is okay its probably an allergy to animals. give her some antihistamine, that should sort her out.

Not necessarily. You have to be exposed at least twice to something before your body builds enough antibodies to result in hives. This can take place over a few days , a few weeks or a few years time. If she is experiancing hives then she may very well have an allergy that has developed from exposure to cat dander. Try some Benedryl to reduce the reaction and see a doctor. Hives can lead to much more serious reactions such as serere breathing constriction. Best not to expose her further and endanger her health. An allergist can do skin testing to determine the cause.

Hives are a histamine reaction to an allergen. You may never find out what she is allergic to, and she may not do it again.

If it is the cat and she hasn't had a lot of day-to-day contact with cats before, then it may have taken three weeks for her to become allergic enough to exibit symptoms.

Give her benadryl according to dosage on the bottle, and see how she does.

If she has any breathing difficulties take her to the emergency room immediately - but she probably won't.

good luck

Hives are usually the result of an allergic reaction. The best thing you can do for her now is give her Benadryl to help counteract the reaction and give her hydrocortisone cream for the itching. Also, you're going to have to take her to a doctor. A doctor can give her a prescription for a drug called Atarax, which will take care of the itching and help control the hives.

You don't tell the child's age, but if she has hives and is old enough to take Benedryl, go get some at the pharmacy. It is an antihistamine. Hives are usually caused by histamines. Read the directions before giving it to her. It will make her sleepy.

Check to see if the allergy happened after she ate, drank or took any medication. Was she exposed to anything different? If you see a pattern this could be the reason. I tend break out after being exposed to something after a while because my tolerance wears down. Maybe it is the cats, the dander may have built up and it is irritating her... try to keep her away from them for a while and see if she gets better. You can contact your local pharmacist for a topical solution to help ease the irritation.

Has she been scratched by the cat? Allergies can develop over a period of time. Also is she having any difficulty breathing? You should seek medical attention asap. If bad enough, her throat could swell shut. This would be very bad.

maybe take her to a doctor , and keep her away from the cats, dont let them come in her room.

It still is possible. Benadrel is what most people give if you break out in hives. I hope you have taken her to a Dr. Hives are serious.
