A spirit is that which takes up no space and is not made up of parts. It uses the faculties of intellect and will. A soul is that which animates the body. Anything that can move by itself has a soul. Humans have a soul that is also a spirit. We have bodies that move and have an intellect and will. Angels are only spirits. They don't have bodies.

The soul is the life-force. It's what gives your body life. The spirit is the "essence" that makes you who you are. This is what "travels" to the netherworld.

I'm not Christian, but since much of what Christianity is based on is Paganism, maybe this will help.

we are Spirit being, we live in a body, and have a soul.
the body is our physical body.
the soul is our consciensciousness, our mind, our physical knowledge.
the spirit is who we are, that being that is able to connect to God.
