I'm linking you to an excellent article covering the most popular deer cartridges. Notice the author takes time to discuss a different ideal caliber for different terrains. You should consider this well.
Now, I'm an old fashioned guy. My grandad used a Marlin lever .30-30 for decades and a peep sight, even into his late 60s and always brought home the bacon. I prefer a bolt action .308. These two, plus .30-06, represent the classic American deer calibers that, in my humble opinion, are still valid today. Whatever you choose make sure there is a good supply and variety of quality hunting ammo.
One comment, the author says "There is no deer hunting in North America that requires a magnum cartridge." I agree with this statement 100% and will take exception with anyone who says different.

Some states its only legal to hunt with shotguns, a 12 or a 20 gauge, and some limit rifle calibers to either a .223 or a .243 and up from there. That would include the .25-06, 260, 270, 280, 7mm, 30-30, 308, 30-06 and then the 300 mags. All of them are accurate with an accurate shooter. With a good scope, they are all perfectly capable of downing a big deer at 200 yards, but some might not have enough power to kill a deer humanly after that. A ..243 would be an example of a gun to use under 200 yards, given they are legal to deer hunt with.

I think you are really asking is: What caliber of gun would be used to hunt bucks & does, and what brand of gun is accurate?
Last question first: ALL modern guns are as accurate as the shooter.
First question: Check w/your State requirements. Many States have a minimum caliber for deer hunting. That aside, I favor the .25-06 Remington with the 115 to 120 grain bullet for deer hunting. My .25-06 is a Remington 700 ADL which also happens to be the most accurate, out-of-the-box rifle I have ever bought.
NOTE: Generally speaking, the .243 Winchester is considered the 'minimum' deer gun.
Good luck.

Depending on where you hunt (woods or open fields) I
hunt in the woods of Vermont and New Hampshire where shots typically run from 25-100 yards tops, for that I use my 30/30 or my 12 gauge sluggun. Personally I would not use anything under .243 and everything over 30-06 I consider as overkill for my situation. For longer range however a .260 Remington or 30-06 will work just fine. The .260 has just about the same balistics as 30-06 butt less recoil.

I've used bolt actions from 6mm to 9.3x62 (OK, a little overkill there), lever guns (30-30, of course, and my favorite, Win 348), and even a 500 BPE double rifle. 30-06 (and the zero is "aught") is more than you really need, as is any magnum. I no longer use 243/6mm, though they're fine if you're careful, and I have 257 Roberts but wouldn't recommend it as an overall best choice. Between the quarter bores and the 30 calibers, though, are some great cartridges. 260 Remington, 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser, 270 Win., 7mm08, 7x57 Mauser (my personal favorite), and 280 Rem. are all great choices. For open distance, I like using long 7mm bullets, but the cartridge from which they're fired isn't that important.
Action type isn't all that important, either, but most of us gravitate towards bolt guns. The accuracy argument gets silly after a point, and one that's often passed, because there are all sorts of rifles capable of "minute of deer" accuracy.

first of all it 30`06 (thirty ot six) secondley a bolt action rifle is th most accurate gun you can get in the world ( which is somewhat of an understatement because accuracey depends on th shooter, you). i would recomend a .25`06,.264 ,.270, or 7MM (.284). "30 odd 6".that was apalling.and you hunt bucks not does.

Personally it depends on the deer.
I'm in the UK I use .308 bolt action for Red / Fallow & Sika and .243 Bolt action for Roe.
Accuracy is dependant on the shooter, Whether your scope is zeroed correctly, ammunition (if you reload your own you will need to play with powder weights to get the correct grouping).
Rifle calibres are a personal choice. If you know a few people with different caibres ask if they would mind you have atry to feel which suits you better.

Get a stainless steel Ruger model 77 with a synthetic stock and get it chambered for the .308 Winchester. I have 33 guns and my .308 Ruger is my favorite for deer.
