in a catholic church the bread and wine cease being bread and wine. they are changed into the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus. We eat these as He commanded us to do.

Bread, moments ago. I just finished my lunch. Wine, maybe a social sip every ten years or so. Ethanol is not my drug of choice, as it's addictive and far too debilitating. ...nasty stuff.
