I plan on enlisting in the Navy after I finish high school and Im currently in a program that allows me to go to two week trainings that give you two weeks of training for certain things.
I was wondering what you think the best jobs in the Navy are, Im still trying to decide what Id like to do.
I just finished Port Ops training and I loved it. I want to be an MAA and work with the Seabees, anyone have any info on them?

So is being an MAA a job of its own or are you the MAA and what ever else your job is?

Sounds like you are in the US Naval Sea Cadet Corps. I would like to think that some one in your unit or within you region could help answer this question. However here is some basic information:
There are 7 Seabee ratings in the Navy:
Builder (BU)
Steelworker (SW)
Engineering Aide (EA)
Equipment Operator (EO)
Construction Mechanic(CM)
Utilitiesman (UT)
Construction Electrician (CE)
If you are interested in one of these fields then you can join as a Seabee. Other rates go to Construction Battalions (NMCB's) including MAA, HM, YN, PS, CS, etc. There are only about 2 or 3 MAA's in each Battalion though.
If you are in the Sea Cadets your best bet would be to attend a Seabee training with them. I highly recommend the training in Port Hueneme, CA or Gulfport, MS or Marsailles, IL. This will give you more information about the Seabee's organization. Feel free to email me if you want more information.

Depends on what you want to do? If you are interested in law enforcement/security, MA is the rate you want. If you like construction, Seabees do that better than anybody.
BTW. Don't listen to the oar-puller comment or about Seabees on ships. All boats have engines and Seabees are not shipboard ratings.
However, if you liked port operations, look into rates that are part of Inshore Boat Units or similiar units. There are many rates in those units, including MA.

MAA? ma do not work with seabeds, they mostly work with ship and base only. MA is a not a good job unless you really like to stand pantrol watch and wated become a cop later on, but if you really do wanted become a cop go directly be a cop now huge pay difference. The main reason i not recommended you not to be MA because during especially sea duty with ships, they stand nearly watch every single day, little or no liberty at port. Seabess is also hard working rate, but they can be fun and you will like if you like to get hand dirty, also alot of stuff they do buidling bridge, house, road will help to find a job in contruction field. However the worst thing about been seabee, they deploy too frequent to iraq. is like 6 in and out.

The Seabees are the folks who build things. They are also one of the few groups in the Navy that undergoes Marine infantry training. One of the more specialized units is the Amphibious Construction Battalion which goes ashore in the wake of a Marine landing. That unit could dovetail nicely with any ports ops training you received.
The Master At Arms rate is the Navy eqivalent of policeman.

Master-At-Arms is an excellent job - my husband was an MA, retired after 20 and if he chose could have gone into public law enforcement. You do criminal investigation - schedule unrine tests - shipboard security - great job! Good luck to you in the Navy and congrats on your choice for your future!

Join a special boat unit. Or an MIU, Mobile, Inshore, Undersea unit (if they still call it that). They get to play with all the cool s***.
