Whenever I ask why is there evil and misery in the world I am told all evil came after, and because of, man's original sin.
Ok, it's hard for anyone to disagree that the instinct for an animal (or human) to kill another living thing to survive is a very evil concept by anyone's standards. So, if every possible type of evil was caused by man himself, after the original sin, how did any living thing survive beforehand? Did they eat each other? But that was started afterwards, wasn't it? Or is the garden of Eden idea just meant to be symbolic and that presents an easy answer for anyone explaining away this idea. My point is that I find it difficult to bellieve that the basic instinct of kill to survive was created by any loving Deity. So, survival, along with death, fear etc. etc. all came after sin? Hmm...

A) Learn to distinguish between nature and morality.

B) ONLY human beings have a moral sense. Only human beings can do evil.

C) Animals ate what they ate for all the time that their species has been around to need food. It has nothing to do with evil and everything to do with biology.

D) And if you truly believe that to kill a living being in order to eat and survive yourself is evil, then you'd better confine your own diet to the following:
UNfertilized eggs,
Milk,
Berries,
Grain seeds,
Nuts,
and some fruits. You may NOT eat vegetables.

In short, you must become a Jain.

Through good fortune, i guess, i was never exposed to "popular religion" as a child, including "christianity". So the ludicrous concept of "original sin" never took hold. And, oddly enough, i'm an extremely happy and healthy person.

And, yes ,the Garden of Eden is merely a metaphor, probably for a world free from "churches" run by patriarcho-fascist sociopaths and pedophiles.

As for the animals, Nature in its infinite wisdom, has provided a means for that to occur, as needed, has It not? :)))

Your point is a good one. God created everything in love..the garden was beautiful and perfect..Adam & Eve and the animals were given fruit trees, plants, and seeds for food..When Adam & Eve disobeyd God and sin came into the world (the fall) that's when fear death and killing for food started..God killed the first animal to clothe them because they were naked at first, and felt no shame..it's all in Gen1-3..
The earth was cursed and thorns and thistles started to cover the earth..Adam had to work hard and Eve had painful chidbirth...as we know today life is difficult..but it wasn't meant to be this way..

Genesis chapter1 verse 30: to every animal, bird, and creature that moves along the ground I give every green plant for food....

Tyrannosaurus and giant Great White Sharks both existed millions of years before humans did, and it is obvious that they were designed by their Creator to rip other animals to bits. Great white sharks didn't feed on algae until Adam and Eve sinned. They are not designed to eat algae or to digest it. They are designed by God as killers. There is absolutely nothing evil or immoral about this. It is simply nature as God designed it. Moral evil entered the world with the sin of Adam and Eve. But violence in nature existed long before that. Animals cannot do anything immoral. They do not have moral capacity. They just do what God designed them to do, which is always morally neutral. After God created them, "He saw that they were good". That applies to carnivores just as well as herbivores.

I think you confuse one point. The "original" sin was disobedience. Cain murdered Able after the "fall of man" the second thing I might point out is that there is a big difference in killing for food (basic instinct) and murder for emotion or even sport (not . I believe that animals are our food. we chose to make pets of them confusing their purpose.
