Is it gas or charcoal?

I have both... I use the gas to cook my veggies and the charcoal for meats.

I would make sweet corn - fill a pot with water, add a cup of sugar and put in your corn (still in the husk). Let it soak for at least an hour. Put the corn on the grill husk and all, when the husk is pretty much burned, the corn inside will be sweet and perfectly cooked.

Grilled portobello mushrooms. Take the stems off of large portobello mushrooms and soak the caps in a mixture of olive oil, Montreal steak seasoning and fresh garlic. Let them marinate for a couple of hours. Throw em on the grill and cook like steak. As soon as they soften, they are done. Delicious by themselves or on steak, or sliced on a burger...

Seasoned burgers-- ground beef, chopped onions & Montreal steak seasoning. Mix together and portion into large burgers. Cook to desired temp.

I have a million other things I make, but these are some good basics. Sorry there are no measurements, but I never measure.

Brisket, ribs, chicken (this way you can get a variety for everyone that will attend) and a good seasoning rub..you can buy the rub easily at your local market/grocery without going to all the trouble of mixing your own. As for garnishes..you could use barbeque on some and the rub on others if you are talking garnishes for your meats...Sounds Like Fun..Good Luck!!!!!!!!

I've noticed that around here London Broil is on sale for about $1.97 a pound so tomorrow I'm going to serve it marinated (about 1 hour) in Lawry's Meat Marinade and grilled until pink in the middle. Let it sit after taking it off the grill for about 5 minutes to let the juices go back into the meat. Then slice it across the grain very thinly.
Serve it with baked potatoes with butter, sour cream and chives, a big tossed salad with lots of veggies in it, and a light dessert of either sorbet or sherbet.
If you want to serve wine with it go for a red wine.
Hope you have a great party!

I'm completely infatuated with this dish I once saw a chef grill on a cook-out special. He took these beautiful ripe tomatoes and hollowed them, sparing the tops. He filled them with goat's cheese and, I want to say parsley or chives, and something else. I forget what he topped it with, but anything goes with cheese, so you can be creative. He doused them lightly in olive oil and placed them on the grill for about two or three minutes. I could almost taste them through the screen. He replaced the tops as garnish, but you could also lay them around the sides of the tomatoes.

My fiance and I both love to recreate dishes from Chipotle Mexican Grill. You could barbeque some chicken breasts and chop them into small cutlets, grill some soft tortillas or pitas, whip up some homemade guacamole, serve rice, beans, sour cream, peppers, roasted corn salsa, etc. and let your guests build their own burritos. There are dozens of recipes online. Chicken Wings are always a big hit at BBQs. You can make some of them Barbeque and some Buffalo, that way you get two tastes with one meat. Hot dogs and burgers are a common staple and are easy. Ribs are always awesome.

For salads, cole slaw is nice and easy. I take the already shredded cabbage that you can buy at the grocery store and follow the instructions on the package. It calls for Mayo, vinegar, milk, and celery seed. Potato salad is nice as well as pasta salad. I make a tortellini salad by boiling cheese tortellini, chopping up tomoatoes and cukes and mixing them with mayo and italian dressing. (More mayo than dressing)

Have plenty of drinks and snacks around and you should be al set. Good luck!

For a very special dessert, peel and core a fresh pineapple and cut it into 1/2" to 3/4" slices. Coat them with a mixture of brown sugar and cinnamon and pop them on the grill. Make sure to flip them so the sugar on both sides caramelize. Top each slice with a scoop of vanilla or coconut ice cream. Tasty and easy!
