I don't think you can generalize all atheists and think that ALL their lives run smoothly...

I guess it depends on what you do. I mean the last act of revenge I took was signing someones email address to some online pr0n mags (in all fairness the guy was a jerk)
I'm not a violent or normally malicious person and I don't stay angry.
Although if I did retaliate in an objectionable manner I'd expect retaliation be it punishment, chastisement or loss of friendship.
My life is pretty smooth. Although if I do hit any bumps, I have my friends, my family and myself to rely on.

As an atheist, I believe that there is no one looking out for us. In order to live n the kind of world that I want to live in, then it is up to me to try and make that world one experience at a time. Is there some sort of cosmic causality that makes bad things come back on you? I don't think so, but bad actions and experiences do inspire more bad actions and experiences while random acts of kindness influence others to do the same.
My life is pretty good. There are somethings that I'd like to do beter, but the truth is that all the bad things in my life are minor things. I've learned to only worry about the things that i can control and everything else I just have to cope with so I don't let those things get me down? Why worry about things I can't control?
There are people who believe they can control everything through proxy of God by praying and being obedient and they are miserable... trying to control things out of their control.

If I get revenge, it feels good at the moment but then wears off and sometimes I feel like I have overreacted. Not so much into revenge...
Life goes smoothly, I feel no burden other than the burden of myself to succeed and be happy!

Personally I think it's best to let things go. If you get yourself wound up about something, who's it hurting more. You or the person that 'wronged' you? So why let them 'win' twice?
As for life, well, everyone's has its 'burdens' surely? It all depends on how you react to them that counts. And being a bit of a Pollyanna I've had a great life thanks. But not one without 'burdens' by any stretch of the imagination.
Not that I see any of this as connected with my belief (or lack of) in a 'God'. Hope that helps!

Different exeriences. I think you will find our expereinces pretty similar. I just don't pass the buck on what's causing them, that's all. We both have people die, go through financial straights, have children, fall in love, ect, ect.
About the revenge. I find that if I just wait, revenge takes care of itself. Just wait for something shitty to happen to that person and then look them in the eyes, say nothing, and grin like a son of a *****. Just knowing you take glee in it makes somebody batty. There was one woman I knew, whenever she talked I would just grin and after a while she was so paronoid to to talk around me, she didn't. It was great. I really actually did nothing. However, I don't believe that everybody gets the com up ins in life. I think we have a justice system that tries to do that...but...really, when bad things happen to people who have wronged you, that's all it is. I mean, give it a couple of weeks and something shitty will happen to you too. Random chance and the force of the choice we make.

I don't seek revenge or do negative things. Life goes smoothly. Atheism is Peace.
Atheists are no different than anyone else, except that we tend to have very high moral standards.. We don't believe in or worship a sadistic, immoral, killer God who drowned, sickened, and slaughtered millions (more than Hitler), conspired to have his own kid beaten and executed, and repeatedly commanded his followers to torture and kill other people. We also take responsibility for our own actions, instead of blaming them on an imaginary devil.

Generally speaking, I have found retaliation and revenge to be an enormous waste of time, energy and effort. I merely go on living and enjoying my life.

Not sure what you're asking exactly but it sounds as if you think life is a strangely different experience for us compared to yours. I bet it's not. Things can go smoothly or not, we can have a laugh or not, we have difficulties and we have to overcome them. As for revenge - doesn't really come into it.
Hope this is the sort of thing you want.

The Karmic Backlash is another religious fantasy. What is probably true is that when you treat another person unkindly, it registers in some way in your own body. Others can sense this (people are perceptive) and they treat you accordingly. Instant backlash, but not a cosmic one.

I don't retaliate against people because it takes too much time and they are not worth it. I have better things to do with my life.
