I am underweight by about 40lbs and I know all I have to do is keep eating but I keep sitting in front of my computer or do other stuff and not eat? Why am I not being able to eat? What are the best ways to make one want to eat more and become healthy? Its scary

A friend of mine told me that when he was in high school he weighed about 140 lbs and was about 6ft tall.Nothing he did would put the weight on until one summer he went to work on a ranch in Wyoming and in three months was up to 190 lbs and nobody messed with him at school. He is now many years older and weighs 145 lbs. He attributes the weight gain to the hard work he did on the ranch. Maybe you should go and do likewise. Some people are just genetically thin.

Are you on ADHD meds? My son is, and it's a constant battle to get him to stop what he's working on and come eat something nutritious.

There's a med out there, Elavil, without much affects, esp in low doses, but it makes you hungry.

Put food beside the computer. Every time you stop to think, pop a carrot stick in your mouth. My son is still too thin, esp since he's hit his growth spurt and he's around 6'. I encourage him to eat ice cream every day.

However, the other day, a half-gallon of ice cream DISAPPEARED. There was only a cup or so missing, so how was it gone? Dad searched the garbages, nothing. What happened to the ice cream? Son was hungry at midnight...then, to cover his tracks (like we were too stupid to notice!) he rinsed out the empty carton and hid it in a different trash bag lol. The rule is that if the ice cream disappears too quickly, Mom doesn't buy any more at the grocery store next time. Oh, well.

Take care, honey, and take every opportunity to eat. Not EVERYTHING you eat has to be nutritious. You can concentrate on nutrition when your weight is back to normal.

Sounds like you don't have much of an appetite.
You should try and stay active. Play some basketball, ride your bike, run, take a walk. Do something in the day that will make you hungry. And when you do get hungry, get a snack but don't fill up on chocolate or sweets, because you might gain weight, but your body certainly won't be healthy.
Also, just try. In the morning eat pop tart, even if it half of one. You have to take it little by little. If you're still having problems, tell your parents, or consult a doctor, you may need medication or something to give you your appetite back.
Take care!
