I just decided to give my life to Christ so there's alot i dont know. This women at work told me that anything i plan to do, keep it a secret b/c people can pray against me, like pray that i dont get the things i want. I dont really see how that could be true, but is it? And if it is true what can i do?

It is called a 'curse'.

Christian and non Christian can curse. It is saying negative or discouraging things. Slanders or false accusations. And also behind your back.

So? Know who you are in Christ. When you apply for promotion, ask God & get Gods direction in it. If God be for you, who can be against you? You are the head & not the tail. You are above & not beneath. Claim Gods promises in your life. Don't let the negativity get you. Know who you are in Christ. Go to a Christian web site or book store & find a book on this. There are many good biblical promise books also. The blessing overcomes the curse.

If someone curses me, I just imaging a boomerang head my way, dipped in Gods love, returned to sender. Then I don't receive the curse & bless the one who cursed me.

Always speak the positive promise to overcome the negative curse.

A good victory preacher is http://www.joelosteen.com . http://www.riveroflifefellowship.org also.

Also, true Christians in a prayer group, praying in the Spirit, will not curse you. Unless they aren't Christians praying/agreeing in the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is One Spirit. So, don't let anyone one prevent you from getting Christian prayer support. Ask God who to ask to agree with you in prayer for this promotion or any raise, etc.

I know if someone at work asked me to pray for him, I would. I wouldn't ever pray against person. But then I have never been a slander or wished ill on anyone else (that I recall). I hate it when others back talk someone.

An important part of Christianity is walking in forgiveness. So, that is every day for anything that someone might throw at you. Remember that Jesus forgave you your sins & cast them far from you.

Angeltress is sooo right. God doesn't hear those types of (curse)prayers. But the devil does. But thank God that the devil is under our feet. Submit to God, resist satan & satan flees.

I have been a christian for 8 years now an dhave never heard of this, I know peple can curse you when they gossip about you by saying stuff like "she is so mean!" thats a curse" you can pray against stuff liek that by praying Psalms 91:10 and isaiah 54:17 over yourself. Now I am an ex-mormon and I had a wild dream that the mormons had soem dogtags of mine and they were praying that I and some other dude would come back to the church, so I prayed against that, but I have never heard of this concept, and I am ex-wiccan and I felt that someone had put a curse on me that i would have nightmares, so I prayed that the spell would go back to were it came from, three times as bad (the rule of three in wicca) and the nightmares stopped.

Praying against someone is first of all selfish and hateful. Anything motivated by hate is of the devil. So don't be afraid. Keep yourself on the side of Christ. Don't be discouraged. You have unseen angels surrounding and protecting you. Yes! Even protection from those trying to wish bad things for you. Psalms 66:18 says; "If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear." Praying against you is a form of iniquity or sin, so I don't think it will be heard at all. However, try to love them back and follow Jesus' example by praying for them. I know it's easier said than done but loving your enemies is also biblical.

That's a common type of "prayer" that most people "pray". I call it an "un-prayer". God would only want peace and unity, so he wouldn't grant these kind of prayers, but instead give the person who prayed against you a new opportunity to see the good things in you.

Anyone can pray for whatever it is that they want but does not mean God will grant it that way. According to the bible, those that pray for bad things to happen are in danger of it happening to them the very way they wish it for others. Just trust in Jesus and you will be fine if you read your bible daily and study. Here is a link to a site that has studies as well as many helps you can use in your study of the Word.

First I want to applaud you in taking that step toward Christ. Secondly understand that walk won't be easy for Jesus said people came against him so they will come against you. In the end God has a surprise for those who follow after him and it will be so glorious we won't even remember this world ever existed.

most religious in one way or another do that. for example if you pray that your country will win the world cup, it is automatically praying that the other team must loose thus you are praying against the other team.

Cursing has consequence for the curser. Ever word will be accounted for in the day of judgment. No one is off the hook.

God Bless You!
