And let the children decide if they want to follow religion or not. I think its sad how parents force their kids to believe in THEIR religion. I hate a certain race of people but, i dont let that be known to my kids. Parents who brainwash their kids, need electric shock therapy to bring them back to reality.

That's an interesting question. In your mind what constitutes "brainwashing" or forcing children to believe a certain way?
If I'm aware of some "truth" that will help my children to live a happier life, I'd be negligent in my duty as a parent if I didn't teach it to my children. It's common for people who don't have my understanding of truth to call this brainwashing. I must disagree with that characterization.
One method of compulsion I agree is inappropriate is to disown or shun children who don't believe the way we do. I've known people subjected to this and can't imagine ever doing this to one of my children.

Reality is that no one can FORCE anyone to believe anything, particularly in North America. All people don't share the same REALITY. You might have views that are more detrimental to children than any parent sharing a faith in God with their kids.
Ultimately people decide for themselves. Believing in something isn't a bad thing, emptiness and NO hope is.
With your rationale all unfounded and unproven "theories" should also not be pushed on kids.... how is that any better?
Have a great day.

Let me get this straight. You want people to but out of their kids lives by butting into a Religion and Spirituality forum and demanding it? ROFL. That's rich.

It is the Christian parents duty to teach and minister to their kids. However forcing them to believe is wrong. God doesn't force Himself on us, we shouldn't force God on them. My sister and her husband Pastor a church and have 2 sons. One has chosen not to follow Christ. They were hurt, but they love him anyway. That is the way it should be.

I agree. I'm so glad my parents were more open-minded whan I was growing up. They exposed me to just about every religion they ever heard about, and simply gave me their opinions on each. It was up to me to find what I was most comfortable with. And that's how I raised my son.

PARENTS WILL TAKE THEIR KIDS TO CHURCH IF THEY ARE CHURCH GOING PEOPLE. I HAVE NO PROBLEM WITH THAT. AS LONG AS WHEN THE CHILDREN ARE OLDER THEY ARE ENCOURAGED TO RESEARCH OTHER RELIGIONS AND BELIEFS AND THEN MAKE THEIR OWN DECISIONS.
I DO ADMIRE YOUR HONESTY IN REVEALING YOUR OWN PREJUDICE, AND FOR NOT PERPETUATING THE IGNORANCE.
MAYBE YOU COULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE BIGOTRY YOU FEEL AND HEAL YOURSELF.

I agree but the brainwashed zombies can't deal with anything outside of their own belief system.

you call it brainwashing. I call it being obedient to God. He has instructed us to bring up our children in his word.
