Present: 36 Darkening of the Light

Question: What is it about Jesus you really hate?

When the light goes down, it may be wise to become invisible. The image is of fresh darkness, the period after the sun has gone down or the fire has gone out. There is still much activity left over from the light of day, and movements in the outer world are at their most dangerous. Even the smallest sound, the faintest glow of light, can attract unwanted attention.

When the darkness of stupidity reigns, it is best that your own brilliance stay "hidden under a bushel basket." That is, your thoughts and efforts should be quiet and self-contained, and protected, as much as possible, from harmful external influences.

Whatever you do, don't let yourself be swept along on the current of conventional wisdom when dangerous uncertainties exist. Try not to become too depressed or anxious; this period will pass. Just endure it for now and inwardly preserve your self-confidence, while outwardly remaining cooperative and flexible. The time to assert yourself will come. Avoid looking too far ahead if you have not yet achieved your goals. That only brings regret and longing, which can eat away at your inner resources.

Be cautious and reserved. Control yourself. Do not needlessly awaken dormant forces of opposition. During dark, unsettled periods, it is best to step gingerly around the sleeping dogs.

The condition of things in the present is fairly stable. There are no specific changes indicated right now.

Why do you assume that because people don't agree with you about him, that they hate him?

Gads, I'm so sick of this stuff.

There seems to be only two conditions that *some* Christians believe can exist:

1. You agree with them

2. You hate Jesus/ you hate "God"/ you know "God" is real, but don't want to have to give up your sinful ways/ blah blah blah

For the record, I don't agree with Christians about him being the "only son of 'God'", and I do not hate him either.

Why would I bother to hate a long-dead Rabbi who sought to reform Judaism?

It has no relevance to my life.

**** BTW, "Christ" isn't a last name. It's a title, meaning "The Anointed One". So proper use would be "Christ, Jesus" or "Jesus the Christ". Or even "Jesus, Christ".

And Jesus wasn't the only "anointed", not even in the Christian bible - the High Priest and the king are each sometimes called "the anointed".

I'd say out of the list you gave Jesus would be the one I do not have ANY animosity towards. The rest have tried to portray Witches as being evil, which we are NOT. Jesus, if he existed, was a PEACEFUL prophet, that taught love and tolerance. I don't have a problem with that.

Jesus was most likely an Essene rabbi named Yeshua ben Yoseph.

I don't hate him at all.

He was probably a very respected and loved man in his time. That is what prompted Paul to create a Christ using the story of Mithra.

The name Jesus Christ is kinda annoying, I'd prefer his real name. Other than that he was probably a pretty sweet dude. He never sined, and was probably an awesome guitarist. :)

For real though, why ask this question? I guarantee no one here has met the guy. All we know about him is what the bible tells us. and the bible was written by human beings, just like you and me, not God, so it's definitly not perfect.

I don't hate Jesus at all
if he existed he wasn't that bad of a guy just a tad bit delusional

also Christ isn't his name it means "anointed one" by saying "Christ" you could be talking about any King, Emperor, or Pharaoh that ever ruled

I hate absolutely nothing about the Christ mythos. It sets a great example for all to emulate; Gandhi said as much. It's what many people and churches do in his name that I abhor.

Nothing about him, supposing he existed. Oh, except possibly his ambiguity, but that may be due to his chroniclers.

It's the rest of the religion I have problems with.

Nothing. People tend to view His message based on how His followers have represented it, not for what it actually is.
