My cat was neutered and after the surgery we noticed a tuble like cord hanging from his incision. After another trip to the vet, some anibiotics, the vet decided to simply cut off this tube thing that was hanging off my cat. He said he had no idea what it was.I found it very bizzare he would so willingly just cut something off my cat's body without even knowing what it was. My dog is a golden retreiver. She has just had a physical about 2 weeks ago and was said to be in good health for her age (10) and nothing was wrong. In the past week we noticed her lymph node glands were swollen and took her back to the vet. He told us that it is probably canine cancer and took some tests to verify it. He said we may have the results thurs,so we called thurs and the lady said they were there but he still had to review them but he would def call friday. Friday passed, still no call. Now today (saturday) we tried calling & they have hung up on us and were very rude and still yet to give us the results

how horrible. there are so many good vets around but a few idiots like this give them all a bad name. That tube like cord was probally the spermatic cord or a blood vessle in your cat. When they neuter a cat, usually the incise the scrotum, cut off the testes, then what remains are blood vessles and the spermatic cord. They will then tie them off and put them back in the body. That is ridiculous that it would be out of the body, and to cut it off in front of you, with no pain medication or anesthsia. Disgusting.

as far as the dog situation, i can see where you can have a good physical then have something wrong 2 weeks later. Lymphoma can do that-just bad timing. But as far as the delay with the test results and the hanging up-that is unexcusable.

You need to get another vet. And especially complain about the incident your cat had.

I'm not sure if you can report vets like you can doctors. More importantly, ask friends about finding a new and better vet. For a male cat I would guess the vet tied a cord around the appropriate place and forgot to remove it. When you took him back he just snipped it off. Trust me he knew exactly what he was doing. He didn't want to admit he had made a mistake. That's a pretty careless mistake. You might want to have the incision checked by a new vet. Never go back to the first vet. The new vet can request your cat & dog's records but they will probably not respond because they have done something very stupid and then did not respond with any degree of responsibility for their actions. Have your dog checked by someone else too.
The first vet needs to be stopped. Contact a local SPCA and all animal rights organizations. Tell your story to everyone that will listen and tell it for years. These local groups send many animals to vets for treatment before they can be adopted and refer a great many more. They need to know the caliber of that vet. Word of mouth in any community is an important advertisement. Be sure you tell everyone you know and anyone else that will listen for years to come about the treatment your cat received from that vet. Even in a large city, it can make a big difference. You owe it to other people's pets. You will save many animals from the inhumane treatment and mistakes of the first vet.
Hope your cat and dog are OK.

Absolutly. I dont know how much good it would do to complain to the actual office though. Try this national websitehttp://www.legalmatch.com/law-library/article/veterinary-malpractice-lawyers.html
