First, try putting peroxide on the piercing. It totally depends upon how advanced your actual infection may be. Sometimes, a bit of over the counter 1% cortizone cream can work, as well. It seems to stay on longer and in one place. I hope you get this taken care of and get to keep your piercing.

You need to be very careful with skin infections at this time of the year as MRSA infections are rampant and move very quickly. Were you swimming in pond or creek water? You can try a day or two of cleaning the site with alcohol. Make sure your stud is 14 k gold or surgical steel only. Dab on a bit of bactroban cream if you have it or use a triple antibiotic cream 3 or four times a day after you have cleaned it. If you see more redening, swelling or the appearance of pus get yourself to a doctor immediately as you may need oral, I.V. antibiotics or even surgery.

Take the earring out and put it in some peroxide. Then take peroxide and cotton balls and clean your ear as many times as you can remember to do today. Tomorrow morning clean your ear and then put the soaked earring back in. Clean w/ peroxide as many times as you can remember to do that day and at least 3 times per day after that. Oh and if there is any pus- you need to squeez it out - sorry =(
