Joints that make noises are usually a sign of wear and tear although at your age this would seem to be unlikely. I would visit your doctor and have a word with him or her about it if I were you. I do know that joints are supposed to move smoothly without any cracking; healthy joints have a slick surface. Have you ever examined the ball on the end of an animal bone from the butchers. That smoothness is what your joints should be like. As we age, the body's ability to manufacture the substance that makes the joint surfaces slick may begin to fail. In this case, a food supplement, or medication, may be needed. Either way, your doctor will advise you best. It wouldn't be wise to ignore it though because the noises are an indication that the joints *are* grating against themselves, which wears them out - a process which should never happen. Arthritis is one of the conditions that can arise as a result of wear and tear. This is very painful and debilitating.
You can 'oil' your joints with a daily cod liver oil supplement. Studies have demonstrated that Omega 3 (found in fish oil) is extremely beneficial to the health and not only for healthy joints: there is evidence that it helps brain function and growing evidence that it actually helps a person to be smarter. So even if cod liver oil capsules don't help your joints, it's worth taking anyway. I know I do!
NB. You can take cod liver oil directly from eating oily fish but I don't like it. You can also buy it in liquid form but it is famously foul-tasting, which is why the capsules came out!

Do you mean your joints crack and pop? My brother is that way. He is past 40 now and it never has caused him any problems. He never could sneak up on us at home. We would hear the snapping noises and know he was coming.
