I really enjoy hearing singers that can really belt out songs but controlled. I'm interested in particular songs that may catch your fancy or singers; I'd prefer more popular or recent recommendations. Some that am sometimes impressed with are Jewel (sometimes she really naills it), the lady who sings "Suddenly Seymour" from that musical and even Ewan McGregor when he does "your song" in Moulin Rouge. Who are your favorite strongest singers (not smooth, but strong)

Hold your breath. start for 10 seconds, then 15, then 20, and keep increasing until you can reach as high as you need to go. This will help you to hold long notes. do it about twice a day. Sing from your diaphragm. it should come from your stomach, your throat will vibrate a little bit, and your voice will be louder. PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE! its pretty self explanatory. Learn to handle rejection. It doesn't really help you with your singing, but its a good skill to know. Have a lucky charm. if you're trying out for something, it'll help you feel more confident and you're singing wont be shaky, like it would be if you were nervous.

I would have to suggest some of the Wagnerian sopranos and tenors. Just kidding. I think it's interesting you think Ewan McGregor has a strong voice, because I think it lacks depth and power also. He did well for an amateur though and his voice has lots of potential.

Pat Benetar, Mariah Carey, Elton john, Celine Dion, Johnny Gill. Don't forget that these singers are performing into an amplifing microphone that makes them louder, so my decisions are based on the vocal range.
