They can look like many different things, but the most common is a point where water percolates up through the ground into a pool or stream.

In the US products must be accurately labeled. If it says that is the spring water then it must come from a natural spring. A spring is defined as a place where water flows from the earth. I have seen springs that were as big as 100 feet across with a small river flowing from them and springs that were only a trickle.

Most of the European ones are, the label should say like bottled at the source, Perrier, Evian and most of the other mineral waters, bottled water can come from any source, and now all the purists are finding out they have been drinking tap water for years, I have lived in all but 3 of the Canadian provinces and we have some of the best here, and in Jamaica and Singapore.
I have drank the local water in all places, and have no real problems my looks and body are a genetic thing, come from the family curse back in the 1500's.
