I'll check the other answers on Yahoo... but I'm wondering if this happens to anyone else.

After I eat, I produce an insane amount of mucus. I have to blow my nose and clear my throat a lot. To the point where I gag (yuck!!). What condition is this, and what medication can prevent it??

You might be suffering from food allergies; or the condition- GERD. ( Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease )

Persistent heartburn and acid regurgitation.
These are the main symptoms GERD, though some people have GERD without heartburn.

Other symptoms are:

Overproduction of mucus after eating.
Pain in the chest
Hoarseness in the morning
Trouble swallowing
May feel like food is stuck in the throat
Choking sensation
Persistent dry cough
Bad breath

This happens to me when consuming fruit or dairy products. I believe that it is due to the chemical makeup of the foods. Possibly more enzymes are required to break up the compound as the first stage of digestion?

This may also be a sign of food allergy...non-anaphalactic of course. Baked goods with lots of sugar make me sneeze everytime I eat them. I would start with a mild allergy reliever such as Claritin and see if that helps. Talk to your doctor if it is really becoming a problem (and double check that Claritin is the right choice for this situation).

Just some suggestions :) Good luck!

Are you eating dairy/milk products? These products can cause the mucous membranes to over-produce.
