My other friend is 20 and his girlfriend just, and I mean just like last week, turned 17. Isn't that living dangerously?

In the UK there would be nothing wrong with that! sex is legal at 16 - even though most people these days are doing it much sooner!

At the present time yes, it is a little dangerous if her parents don't approve. Three years age diff. would be no huge deal if she were over the age of 18. He should confirm with her parents that they have no problem with this age difference. One false move that makes her parents mad could land him in jail. I know young men who ended up on sexual offenders lists because they dated girls under 18. Maybe he doesn't realize that if her parents wanted to press charges on him he could end up on this list, even though she is 17! One screw up is all it takes and once he is on that list every one will think he is a pervert when he really is not.

Oh, yea! You will still be in jail when she turns 18. So the best way is to just wait until she is 18.
Anything under 18 is jail bait. I know had a friend who got 18 months in jail for dating a girl 16 and her father found out and he was 21. They will put you in jail for that.

i dont think so, just so long as the relationship is serious. i met my boyfriend when i was 16 and he's 19. now i'm 18, and he's 21 and we're getting married soon! =) the point is, guys mature 4 years (scientifically proven) later than girls. i find my boyfriend more understanding and mature than all the guys i went out with who's of the same age as me.

I think the law is over 16 and less than 4 years apart and it's not illegal. I'm not completely sure about that....but if so...then he's doing nothing wrong.

It depends what her parents think of the situation. When i started dating my husband I was 16 and he was 20. I think my dad was ready to pawn me off on somebody else. lol

it should be fine if her parents are alright with the situation. 20 is only one years older than 19!
