I don't pick on overweight people in a mean way. I DO have a problem with the morbidly obese. I see them in my retail store. They park in handicap spaces, and then ride one of our motor carts around. These kind of habits are what got them where they are in the first place. I hear, "Boohoo, I eat because I'm depressed, and I'm depressed because I eat." Get up and do something. Ask a psychologist. Exercise is better for depression than any pill they can give you. These people need to have some self-respect.

Stoner, this is tough love. I was pretty overweight in my teen years. I've dropped 50 lbs. since, and could still get rid of a little more. I've cut a lot of lazy habits out of my lifestyle(i.e. I take the stairs, I don't care how far away I park)

And if people keep pointing the finger at everyone else they'll never better themselves.

Ruth. Coddling them won't help, either.

Devnet...I have a tendency to be blunt. People will make fun of fat people walking, jogging, or whatever. I don't. It shows that they're trying to better themselves. It would be wrong to laugh at that.

It's harsh, but it's true.
It has become culture in the U.S. to do things the "easy way." We have many luxeries, and fast access to food. I hate eating fast food, and I love exercising, which I agree makes me an "Oddball American"
When fuel is too expensive to drive around all the time, it'll be for our own good. Why drive a car to a place that is a mile away when you can just walk? It is things like this that add up to the obesity in America.

you know if you only knew these people in real life you woouldn't say these things about them. I have a problem with obesetiy and I am depressed all the time but I don't feel sorry for my self like you say we do. I fight back and try to do what I can to stop the weight from coming on. I don't eat that much but try to eat three meals a day like I am suppose to. and I do walk but not much see I have a disease in my back which keeps me from moving the way I want to and could be crippled in 2 yrs so don't talk about obese people again unless u really know what they are going through ok. I'm sorry you feel the way u do because some day it could be u and then u will be looking back on this day and asking why? not every body has the resources they need to get the help they need so be nice to them in the long run u will be greatfull I hope. So stop be self centered and try to be nicer to the people u see in your store and please stop making assumptions about nothing you know about . Your not there doctor or a doctor either and can't help them by putting them down all the time grow up man.

The way you say it is harsh and quite rude, but essentially you're right. The situation in North America is getting out of hand.
However, I'm confused on something: I'm 150 pounds overweight, but I am doing something about it. Does the fact that I'm only now doing something about it make me worthless or pathetic in your eyes? How many pounds overweight does someone have to be before they become an object of scorn for not fixing it sooner? Do you respect the people who finally 'get off the couch' and lose the weight, or do you simply judge them for getting fat in the first place instead?
For the record, I'm not one of those people who refuse to do anything resembling exercise. Actually, I walk pretty much everywhere and have for years (except for into town, as it would take four or five hours to get there from my house). Just because a person is obese doesn't make them inherently lazy.
And no, this was not a 'self-defensive rant', as you are undoubtedly thinking. It's simply a request for clarification.

If I may, this is about a woman named Terry. Terry is a friend that I grew up with, she has a long history with my family. I guess as is with most Mexican families she became a relative as time passed.
I recall that even in the 3rd grade, she must of weigh 100 lbs or so. Being so large, she was teased endlessly growning up.
A shorten history, Terry has and always will be fat (honest term), she has a medical condition, that she has no control of.
I have seen her so large as I would know her from a block away. She has over time lost her strength for walking, she now uses a motorized cart if she has to move almost any distance.
Terry has been on both sides of the up and down charts, she has lost amazing amounts, only to gain it back, I seen her swell to the point her face looked porkish, I doubted her attempts to try. She has endured taunting, programs, consulting, hypnosis, medications, surgeries most of this before her teen years.
As kids I hated her, I bullied her and tried many times to hurt her. At one point I tried to run her over with a car, people can move if they have to, even fat ones. As a teen I ignored her, for fear that being her friend would in some way endanger me.
I am 46 this year, so what I say is Terry has dealt with her problems for a long time. She was there the day my sister died at 47. My sisters last words were "hold me", which Terry did. I still of think of Terry as fat, but I accept her for being her. I, myself was 330 lbs., 2 years ago.
As to your labels picked fat/lazy/whining. I'd take my best guess that you got your answers of why their fat, from asking them directly why are you so fat. If it was so easy as to stick to it, then I ask any one to try a exercise. Do it for 3 whole days, without a faulting moment.
If your right handed, for three days use the left. No fair tying a reminder on youself or immobilizing the right arm somehow. Just become left handed quickly.
Smoke, just stop three days. Stick to it.
Swear, don't for three days......and tell everyone that your trying this. If human nature plays right they will jokingly tease you when you stray or fail. If you succeed, you will never smoke, swear or be right handed again. If you revert than people will say you are weak, bear no self will, and accepting of your ways. Either way learn, accepting ones diffeances takes being strong from within.

They will get off their couch for twinkies, a burger, a gallon of coke.
Actually - that is cruel. I do have a bias with morbidly obese people as well and this "big is beautiful" kick.
Being a health professional and seeing these unsightly obese young people and I know what it is doing to them makes me sad. Makes me ill and makes me want to scream at them. But denial is a big thing. They will loose it when they are ready. The whole depression - crying thing... soon as that starts I stop listening because it is crap. They need to make a decision, stick to it and do it. PERIOD

How do you know those people don't have some kind of genetic problem? Most people who can't walk because they're obese do. If you keep up that attitude you'll end up fat one day. I suggest you be a little nicer to people who are different than you. What goes around comes around....

hydrogen peroxide takes out blood stains. attempt it on an area first. Use a cotton ball. it would take numerous purposes of dabbing on the stain. Use a dry toothbrush after the suede dries to comb it.
