Hi, i wanted to know if there is a software that allows me to record from the pc.

I want to record a serious of steps that i did on the pc (like how to use videostudio 6) on to a DVD that i can give to my friend so that he can watch the DVD that i know what to do.

Is there a software that records everything that is on the PC screen?

Like for example how a DVD recorder works by recording what is on the screen, is there a software that does this for the PC? This software would need to also record sounds so that while i use the mouse to show him i can also speak using a microphone telling him exactly what i am doing. I already have a burning software and a DVD/RW to create the DVD but just need the software to record from the PC.

Please could you help me as he lives in the USA and wants me to help him out, but i live in the UK and it would be much easier if i send him a DVD to show him exactly what to do.

Thanx.

There are several that make an AVI file of everything that you do on screen. This one looks reasonable (and is free) http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Multimedia_and_Graphics/Graphics_Viewers/Hero_Screen_Recorder.html but it seems that you can only add sound afterwards when you edit it (maybe that's not the end of the world, though).

There are those that record both sound and screen at the same time but I couldn't find a free one.

http://wisdom-soft.com/products/autoscreenrecorder.htm has a free and a 'pro' version.

There are many more here: http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Multimedia_and_Graphics/Screen_Capture_Tools/index3.html
(Note the difference between Screen Capture - stills - and Screen Recording!)

If I was trying to do something like this. I would take screen shots of each step. Put them in to web pages and put hyperlinks linking the web pages together. Burn all the pages to a DVD and then link the index page to an auto run file on the DVD. The sound would have to be embedded in the web pages. Roxio media creator 9 - allows you to do slide shows - with MP3 playing at the same time. I have even recorded slide shows as video files. Roxio also allows you to format the DVD for PAL ( for the UK ) or the standard for the USA.

Bulent's Screen Recorder is what you need. It records screen acitivities with sound. You can record your voice while recording the video, or, with its Movie Studio, you can add your voice after you recorded the screen video :
