A regular octagon is an octagon whose sides are all the same length and whose internal angles are all the same size. The internal angle at each vertex of a regular octagon is 135° and the sum of all the internal angles is 1080°.

If this is a regular octagon with an overall height and width of 10', the length of each side is 4.14 feet.

Here is how I came up with the length of each side (x):
10 = x + x/√2 + x/√2
10 = x + 2x /√2
10√2 = (√2 x + 2 x)
10√2 = x(√2 + 2)
10√2 / (√2 + 2) = x
x = 4.1421 feet

A 10 ft circle has the radius of 5 ft. Inscribed within a circle is an Octagon. Drawing the radius to a point on the circle where two sides meet is ( r ) The length of a segment of the Octagon ( one of its sides ) is { S = 0.828 x r } Therefore one of the sides is {0.828 x ( 5) = 4.14 ft.}

I'd hazard a guess at 10ft.
