Nope.

I've watched that fight. Dundee called the ref over, the ref looked at the glove and told them to fight on. It bought Ali maybe 10 seconds of extra time, the interim between rounds was about 70 seconds. The legend of the story is bigger than what actually happened.

I don't understand why Elmer Fuddstein got 3 thumbs down for his answer. He stated a FACT, folks. Are the people on this forum allergic to the facts or something? The gloves WERE NOT replaced and Clay was given no significant extra rest. He came out the next round fresh as a daisy and whipped Cooper's tail.

None of what Elmer said was opinion. It was fact.

I remember that fight very well. Henry caught a cocky Cassius Clay with his famous left hook (Henry's Hammer). Cassius corner men didn't cut his glove for no reason, he was definitely hurt. He was also extremely lucky that it was at the end of the round. Henry new how to finish a fight, so I think that he would have knocked him out.

Lets not fool each other, however, Cassius was definitely the better fighter/boxer, and once he stopped taking Cooper for granted, and after he had recovered, it was curtains for Cooper.

Ali would of recovered and won by stopping cooper, cooper would of been to cut up by alis punches, cooper was known for his easy cuts.
It would of been good on both fighters if they had a rematch ,but it would of not changed coopers career if he had won because ali wasnt a world champion yet.

ali predicted a 5th round ko, so he bided his time 'till the 5th and got caught with that famous left hook! the time laps had no barring on the outcome. ali usually held back to stop the opponent in the round he predicted!

Yes I think he was, Cassius was brilliant and as most know, you don't need too long to get your head back together, and of course there was also the talk about the gloves being tampered with.

Yes, absolutely the time it took to find a replacement pair gave Cassius Clay (as he was known then) the time he needed to recover.
