Okay, well...I'm half korean, so my mom's side of the family always wants to talk to me. I can understand korean, but I have trouble speaking it because I don't use it everday. I'm just use to hearing my mom speak it all the time.

The littler kids (ages 13-18) are learning english, but they tend to fall back by using korean. And...I can only SPEAK english to them.

WHAT should we talk about? lol

This is probably the most stupidest question, but I just feel bad because I talk to my dad's side of the family all the time, and I'm tired of avoiding my mom's side of the family. I mean.. I'm 15!!

=/

thanks if you answer............ =)

Just try your best to learn Korean. If your understand it you should be able to speak it. I can better understand Korean tha speaking it but I still do. Still try using korean and english. Try your best to use only korean words but if there is something you don't know say it in english. I bet your mom knows enough english to understand. You should try practicing it more and watch korean shows and maybe go to korean school?? (I'm not a fob but when I grew up all I knew was korean because both m parents speak it. Then I watched american television. And I'm good as english as anyone. Better than most people anyway. Best LA grade.) JUst try your best to speak korean. Or you could try help your mom start speaking english more. But learning to languages are better for younger people. Older people have harder time and then their tongue gets in a way that they can only make specific sounds of their languages. That's how they get that accent. When your young and say languages your tongue isn't tied yet. So if you learn a wide vaerite of languages your accent will be much better. Like in korean their is a sharp d type of sound. I asked some to say it but their tongue wasn't meant to do that. So it sound like an american d. That's why it is good to learn more lanuages when your younger. Once you learn korean you can pronounce most asian languages. Spanish you can speak latin routed languages ect. Also it may be weird at first but you will get use to it. Good luck! (My korean is not that good but still speak to my parents in konglish (englis and korean.)

sign language and body language helps when you cannot understand each other. Don't worry you will be able to find a way to communicate with them effectively, it's either you'll be comfortable using the little korean that you know, or they will understand your english. Like you said your brothers are learning english.
My best friend is russian, at first he doesn't know english and I don't know russian, but later on we're already teaching each other. So you can do the same, help your brothers to learn english and you will be able to learn korean, a lot faster than you can think of, if you are serious about it.

The more you're around it the more you'll understand it. And the more they are around you the more they will understand english.

Ask your mom to pick up some Berlitz or Rosetta Stone language tapes.

Don't be afraid to ask them to slow down or repeat themselves.

A little patience and some good humor and you'll pick up enough to make yourself understood.
