I feel sorry for those soldiers who think that they are fighting only terrorism? I said that i support you but not the war, yes it may be a contradiction of terms but that is how i feel. I feel sorry that you have to go over there and kill innocent people to get the actual terrorists. I was slammed by others for takeing this view but i guess with loved ones over there they have to be supportive even if its only for their own morale. Well i do support you whether you like it or not. I support your courage and your mental toughness and the ability to perform in the face of death. I would also answer the call for freedom if the call was not being made by someone who sounded like Elmer Fudd. And if you think this war is all about terrorism then i would get you to check the dwindling supply of America's oil reserves. And just remember that there are sleeper cells all over the world. So why not take the fight global to really be effective. Warrior and mercenary are diiferent. Thats my view

Good question john b
i support the troops by defending the soldiers when they are called murderers. I like to tell people that they are doing the job you allowed the commander and chief to send them to do!

This was a rant but the question really is why do the troops get upset when you say you support them but not the war?
Or the wives for that matter? If you dont want my support then i want you to come home and wait until the try to invade. Then i will stand the on the line with you.

When I was in the Marine Corps the only thing we fought for was our buddies, everything else was secondary. Plain and simple.

I am a soldier, and I am not one who gets upset when people say they support the troops but not the war. Actually, alot of people in my unit prefer people to support us, and dont care if you like the war or not. We returned from a 16 month deployment in Iraq last december and many people wondered why we even went there. Sure we did a great job cleaning up the place, and probably changed alot of peoples lives, but why do that when our own country has problems. As far as killing innocent people, I dont agree with you. Every death is accounted for now a days over there. And FYI, the bad guys over there kill more innocent people than we have.

OHHHHH, the lies about the oil crap. Well for one thing, we don't get a speck of oil from Iraq, haven't for decades. Even Saudi Arabia only is #4 on the list behind Venezuela, Nigeria, and Russia. And the Saudis only provide 12% of our supply.
If you all want to hoot and holler about oil, then give up your car, give up every plastic item in your house and job (plastics are petroleum based products), never get on an airplane, never buy anything in a store that has their products trucked in from out of town, or have anything to do with any service, product, or company that uses petroleum for anything. Go live in the woods and grow your own food and weave your own cloth and make your own clothes, etc.
Our soldiers are doing every thing they can to avoid killing innocent people---sometimes to the point of putting themselves at risk and sometimes getting killed because orders were not to attack a known terrorist leader because he was inside a mosque or too close to a school or there were children in the midst of the crowd he was with. It is the terrorists who are killing gobs of innocent people merely because those people want a better life for themselves and their children and don't give a whit about living under Sharia law. My husband was in Baghdad when there was an attack on the market in the Green Zone and 50 Iraqis were killed. One was a little girl he had met and horsed around with only the week before. When he went back to the market and asked the grandmother of the little girl where she was and found out she had been killed, he was crushed, he still has nightmares about it. But that grandmother didn't blame the US soldiers, she was glad they were there. She blamed the terrorists that are trying to take freedom away from her country.
You and those like you are swallowing a bigger pile of lies and propaganda and horsehockey from the liberals than you claim the conservatives are shoveling. And you are so blind. Always double check everything, don't get all of your info from places that are sucking it up all from the same source. Find some independent sources that are giving just the facts and not the spin. With the internet there should be plenty of sources that can give you the view from all sides. Use it or be a fool forever.

You as a citizen of a free state have the right to any opinion you choose. You are also a citizen of a country with a high enough standard of living to support your leisure to express that opinion and the infrastructure to allow you to share that opinion with us. The same system allows you to work to make real changes. What specific solutions do you suggest for solving the problems you see and what precisely are you doing to make these solutions happen. Pointing out problems is easy. Working to solve them is the way to go. I am grateful that you support American troops. Now how would you go about making better use of them?

It's not a contradiction in terms to respect individuals for doing their job and following orders -- yet, still not agree with the political decisions that led to those orders being issued.
"So why not take the fight global to really be effective."
That's the issue -- soldiers don't get to choose which battles they fight. They follow the orders they are given. That's why we should never blame soldiers for doing their jobs -- but we can still question politicians about the wisdom of such orders.

My son is one of thoise soldiers who are keeping the war over there and away from your neighborhood. (Remember 911 and all the men, women and children that were brutally murdered?) He is fighting to allow you freedom of speech so you can rant and rave and complain. If you don't like the system, shut up and do something about it.

get a life. why don't you look at the nature and character of war. you mouth platitudes of support when you don't have a clue or mean it. look at the stupidity coming from your government in this fight. shades of vietnam and korea. place limits on solders puts them in a no win situation. civilian casualties are a war reality whatever you call them. the one we are in has gone on 5000 years. you dont think we'll make a real difference do you
