They are legal provided they cannot be used by the driver while driving.
This can be accomplished in two ways - positioning it so that it cannot be seen from the driver's seat, or wiring it so that it cannot operate when the engine is running.

Yes, they are allowed in the front but so long as the driver cannot see the screen whilst driving. This also applies to screens in the rear - no watching via the rear-view mirror. So a front seat passenger can watch ' Crash' or maybe 'Need for Speed' as you go down the M1 on your way to your holiday.

As long as it is not in the view of the driver. It is an easy distraction which could lead to accidents. If it is on the passenger side i.e., visor mounted or hand held, its ok. If it is a stock factory built-in dvd navigation system, its ok. In most states you could easily get a ticket for INATTENTION TO DRIVING which could be due to talking on a cell, texting while driving, watching DVDs while driving etc. If it detracts from your full attention to the road, it is not good. Safety first, buckle up!

Yes they are. However, the screen is only allowed to work if the car is in park and the wheels are not moving. The exception would be if it is used for a navigation screen.

NO Watching DVD'S while your are suposed to be driving watching the road.. If you ran into me distracted watching a DVD I would hire an attorney.

any thing that impairs your vision is illegal .I certainly wouldnt have a DVD in the front of my car .Far too dangerous Think about it.
