What are the current laws about illegal aliens entering the US? Have they all been destroyed by Congress?

Hypno Pope, you certainly don't talk like any Pope I've ever met. My ancestors are Cherokee. So please continue to tell be how I should not enjoy my freedom of speech as is my Constitutional right in the US? Are you from a different country and don't understand these freedoms to express yourself or ask questions? I'm afraid I don't understand your insensitive reply.

I have known a lot of illegals and trust me they aren't interested in our laws except to avoid El Migrae. They aren't interested in assimilating or learning the language or traditions. All they want is a job. Then they claim no comprehend when you tell them to do it.
God Bless!

they cut out part of the law: 8 USC 1325 (b) says:

"Improper time or place; civil penalties
Any alien who is apprehended while entering (or attempting to enter) the United States at a time or place other than as designated by immigration officers shall be subject to a civil penalty of—
(1) at least $50 and not more than $250 for each such entry (or attempted entry); or
(2) twice the amount specified in paragraph (1) in the case of an alien who has been previously subject to a civil penalty under this subsection.

So like speeding, you can get a fine, or if they can prove that you were driving recklessly, it is possible to be charged with a misdemeanor.

In practice I've never seen either enforced. The officer merely asks "If you wish to return voluntarily to your own country, sign here"
If they refuse, he threatens them with part A and yells at them until they sign.

[8 USC 1325] http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/scripts/ts_search.pl?title=8&sec=1325

Brucec83 (above) is absolutely correct -- the blog article you cite cuts out relevant portions of the law, and is incorrect in its legal analysis of many of the other portions.

Illegal entry under 1325 is no different in type than driving without a drivers license or insurance. By ITSELF, it causes no harm to anyone.

Now, the people who do that may break other crimes, like the people who drive without a license may speed, or may run over small children in the road. But those later separate crimes have nothing do with whether the person has a license or not -- just like welfare fraud and tax evasion can happen just as easily (and are much more frequent) with US citizens.

Most of the illegal immigration debate has nothing to do with illegal entry -- it's just the latest excuse to hate and attack people that are in a minority. Because if the issue were really about violations of 1325 and related sections, we'd be focused on finding solutions to that problem, not screaming about how they all need to be shot.

Thee will be no amnesty! We've wised up on so many things that we never even considered before. Americans are now aware of what is going on and we'll never be taken advantage of like this again. Keep contacting political officials and be very aware of the platforms of upcoming presidential candidates, local and state, as well. We all need to start voting, not many of us did and that was our downfall. We shan't let this happen again!

"yeah, our forebears came here to escape poverty and prosecution but now the country's closed"

Unbelievable.

Building the fence means never having a reason to say we're sorry, (or adios) you can't stay here anymore.

Besides, I'm a Berkeley Graduate, I read the paper every day, watch the news, and have authored two history books and I don't know what Title 8 section so-and-so says. So about the ignorant, uneducated boarder jumper? No way.

Word up! Pity our federal government has decided upon selective enforcement. Round them all up and deport them all. Let me know how I can help.

They are just part of the pre-invasion force sent here to attack the country. Why do you think they keep saying that this country belongs to them and they want to get rid of everyone else, they are nothing more than a group of criminals and thief's

Sorry to sound juvenile here, but what you are referring to is the LAW. Since when are ILLEGALS interested in the LAW, anytime, anywhere?

ILLEGAL entry.

NO driver's licenses or auto insurance.

FRAUDULENT documents.

FALSE identities which change to suit their needs

IDENTITY THEFT by using someone else's SSN

NO RESPECT for U.S. culture, mores or customs

ILLEGALLY receiving social assistance benefits

LYING whenever it suits them for the most benefit

PUMPING OUT anchor babies at taxpayer's expense

SCREAMING RACISM when they don't get their way

DO YOU SEE A PATTERN HERE?

***** ILLEGALITY BREEDS MORE ILLEGALITY *****
