Atheists get married just like anyone else...they go to the courthouse, apply for a marriage license, find a place to hold the wedding, find a person to officiate the wedding, go shopping for rings and flowers, etc.

The only difference is most atheist weddings aren't held in a church, and most aren't married by a traditional minister. They are usually married by a judge, justice of the peace, or a non-religious minister, such as a humanist.

Christians forget that marriage is primarily a legal contract. It has been since the beginning of the institution, when marriages were arranged for the betterment of families.

Atheists aren't sub-human, you know. So "they" get married the same as many other people, by a licensed officiant at some venue or another. I imagine some even get married in a house of worship (gasp!) And I'll bet lightning didn't strike.

My husband and I got married at the courthouse. We may do a vow renewal at our 34th anniversary next year. If we have an officiant, it will probably be UU or Indian, or we have an ordained friend who will do it without mention of deity.

As atheists, we respect the religiosity of our family and friends. It is always a pleasant surprise when religionists return the favor.

You only have a priest or minister if you're Christian. If you don't believe in god, why would you want a religious ceremony? Instead, you'd have an officiant preside over the wedding.

And no, I'm not athiest - I'd probably say I'm agnostic. I don't believe in organized religion but I don't know if I believe in god or not. I would not want to get married in a church or have a religious wedding ceremony. They don't have any significance in my life.

I'm not athiest, I'm agnostic and so is my fiance, but we're getting married in a church anyways for tradition and appearances sake.

I think those who do not want to involve the traditional route would be married by a judge.

you can get a judge to officiate and just specify that they don't mention god in the service. or you can find someone to get ordained online and they can do it w/o mentioning god.
most clergymen won't not mention god. as it is their faith. you have to think of non clergy to marry you

Find a humanist wedding officiant.

Or a judge or justice of the peace.

And no, I am not an atheist.
