This seems to happen whether you live in the city or in a rural area! Where do all those extra cars come from?

Monday Mornings and Friday Afternoons - Some people have access to flats near where they work, so travel into the city on a Monday morning from their family homes, stay in the city all week, and then travel back on Friday Afternoon. Also some people start the travelling part of their holidays on Friday Afternoons.

I have noted the same problem here in Atlanta...I think that all the extra traffic is people from other states or towns passing thru for the weekend.
I have also noted that here..traffic is extra light on friday mornings..then heavy in the p.m. rush hours

Lots who work in big city's like Leeds head home
on the motorways after working away from home all week.
Some head of to the coast for a long week end
or go ome early so they can be out early for the clubs.

There is a lot of people travelling home for the weekend students ..sales reps and business people who work away all week I acree with what you say it is always horrendous travelling on a friday and also on a monday as well.

well, im guessing people from work come home early on friday, and go outside to do things. Rural areas,im really not sure why.
