This applies to all forms of religion and to the evolutionary theory. The theory of evolution has some truth and some inconsistences, the same can be said of nearly every form of religion. So why do people bicker and squabble over such an absurd topic?

Eyes Wide Open,
Evolution has not been proven as a fact yet, that is why it is till a theory. I don't support it, not because of spiritual reasons, but because, even though anthropology has been trying really hard to do so, no physical link between current species and past has been found. No link between humans and monkey has been found, EVER! There have been very old bones, but all have been distinclty human and the species has never been questioned. If a credible link is found and proven to be such, I will fully support this decision, but until facts are proven to show the link between the two, I cannot support the theory as a fact.

Ego. Seriously, some people think that they are the only ones who could be right, so they refuse to even consider another possibility or combination of possibilities.

I agree with you . I am wondering the same thing.
I think it is because some claim that evolution (meaning macroevolution) has been proven. Of course, it has not.
Christians try to refute macroevolution. Hence, the big argument.
And for those who say that there is no difference between microevolution and macroevolution : you have been deceived. Macroevolution is an incorrect extrapolation based on the true data obtained form microevolution. All the available experimental data based on genetic variation, when plotted on a graph, show a curve with a decreasing gradient. Yet macroevolution DELIBERATELY falsify the trend by extrapolation from the EARLY part of the graph. Now, tell me how scientific THAT is!! And even with that, one needs to understand that it is just an extrapolation.
One more nail in the coffin of macroevolution: if macroevolution were true, MILLIONS of transition forms should have been found. Instead, "scientists" really have to invent by taking one tooth and a piece of a jaw bone, for example, and prepare a model of what the WHOLE creature looked like.
Sorry, but this sounds like the bickering and squabble you were talking about.
But the topic is not absurd or trivial. Here I disagree with you. I don't have the time to expand on this.

The way you see things is fair. The words you use give thought to what's wrong in this world.
Evolution is a theory and Religion is theory to most professed Christians because they can not prove their doctrine the same as Evolutionist. Using some truths and mixing them with untruths.
The solution to this is found in mans instruction book.
When a person is reasonable he can find the answers in this book. Because this book when studied tells the truth.
People who believe in Evolution associate the book with the false teachings of Religion, (mistake) People who are Religious don't test what they think they know with what the book says.(mistake) Like anything man has ever invented or made, he usually makes a book of instruction?
When studied the book revels the correct understanding, if used correctly it can revel the truth and cause the lies to be exposed.
Put it to the test and see? Ask a reasonable question and see if I can guide you to a reasonable book answer. gemhandy@gmail.com

Evolution has been proven a scientific fact, just like objects will fall at the same rate. Darwins theory of evolution by natural selection has frequently been confused with the fact of evolution. Neither evolution or Darwins theory have any withstanding inconsistenecies. Religion does not pertain any truth.

I don't bicker and squabble over anything. People ask atheists about evolution and such and I do my best to answer. Some don't like the answer but I don't see me bickering.

Out of the fishtank, are we?
Well, you've only managed to jump into a river. Ask yourself this question:
Why are you bickering about people bickering over such an "absurd topic"?
When one leaps out of the fishtank, one jumps into a river. When one jumps out of the river, one ends up in a pond. Out of a pond, into a lake. Et cetera, ad infinitum.

We as people are constantly looking for proof of our origins and purpose of life. And because people are egotistical by nature we are looking to belong to something that will make us kings of the universe (hence, religion). We need to be like tree's. Tree's are not good or evil, they just are. A tree does not need to be bigger or more important than it already is. It does not judge or reward. It just is.

Because Evolution has been proven, more so than almost any other theory in history. It is the demented ramblings of those whose objections are on religious grounds that are contributing to the bickering which I assure you looks ridiculous to most of the educated world out there.
