Im getting very painful, severe 'lightning bolt' pains in my legs after working 6 or more hour shifts. The pain is accompanied with bright red spots or splotches on and around my ankles and below my knees. The redness always seems to come in the same pattern, starting at the inside of my ankles and moving in a half moon pattern inward towards my calfs. Then more spots on my outer calf just below the knee. What could this be caused from and what can I do to ease the pain. (short of quiting my job that I need) I need help...PLEASE! The pain is unbareable and brings me to tears daily!

here is what works for me, every day, when you get home from work, take about 10 minutes to elevate your legs, what i do is lay down and literally raise my legs straight up, you can hold them behind the knees if you need to for support, leave them up, try to get them as straight as you can, do it to the point you feel a stretch but not pain behind the knees, then point your toes/feet, first straight up, then bend feet /toes towards your body, slowly work up to straighter legs and bending or moving the legs in towards the body (your chest) , keep them straight though

this works better for me then just trying to prop up my legs
your blood tends to pool in your lower legs after standing for a long time, also your fluids, as the blood has to move all the way up to your heart to circulate, its actually made worse if you are standing in one position, as opposed to walking around

i would imagine this is what is causing your spots and pain

that exercise or rather stretch will help to both recirculate /unpool the blood, plus stretch out your leg muscles

if this doesnt help, or the problem gets worse, do see a dr.

Do you do a standing job?
Then I would guess you got arteries who burst open when you stand to long. I would suggest consulting a doctor.
