use the dv - firewire - ieee 1394 port, it carries both video and audio in one digital stream. this audio quality is far superior to what the computer soundcard can generate from analog.

Depends what AV sockets you have, RGB, S-VHS, Firewire, I take it your soundcard has a 3.5mm female jack plug? Maybe put a pic of the availble connections here
