I had a terrible problem one summer with fleas. After all the vacuuming, spray "bombing" and multiple trips to the groomer, the best solution was the Frontline. It is pricey, but it's truly the best method I have found. Compared to other methods, it isn't that expensive. If I had just used Frontline in the beginning, I would have saved time and money. Good luck!

You have a disaster on your hands. If fleas are in your carpet, they will also be in the furniture, chairs, sofa, beds etc. Sadly, the only way to get rid of an infestation is to spray the whole house. Apart from making sure your chairs, beds etc. are sprayed, you should also spray all "soft" toys. Many people, with kids, tend to spray everything except the teddy bears etc. However, fleas are not fussy on where they live and if something is soft and warm, they like it. As for the eggs, that's not a problem as any eggs will be on kitty. Fleas only use the cat to feed and breed. As an animal passes a flea, the flea will jump onto the animal (including humans) have a good drink of blood and leave it's eggs behind. The body temperature of the animal will incubate the eggs. Once the flea has had a good feed and left it's eggs, it will jump back off the animal. It will then either wait for the animal to return, which is why they love a cats bedding, and start the process again or they will wait for another animal and use that animal to transport them to another area, whilst feeding and breeding. When your home is no longer infested and Kitty has been clean for a short while, you should put a "flea" collar on kitty to prevent her from becoming reinfested.

I'm having the same exact problem. When I got my kitten almost 3 months ago she had already had fleas because they had 25+ cats/kittens in their home. Some as of went outside. Which I also have a 10 week old puppy and so now my puppy has fleas!

Well, I've been trying to get rid of them since I got my cat. Well, I bought Hartz as well. It's that powder stuff you sprinkle on your cat. I also suggest you buy Tick & Flea shampoo. Then, after she gets out of the bath sprinkle the powder all over her.

My dog as well get's Tick & Flea bathes about every 2-3 days.

The other day I bought a "bombing" thing to we're it will bomb your house & kill Fleas, Ticks, and a whole bunch of other bugs. That only costed me around $7. So, I suggest that. But, make sure you have a place to put your kitten for 4 1/2 hours while the bombing is in process.

Another thing I suggest is Hartz 3 in 1 Carpet Powder. It was only around $7 as well & your just sprinkle it into the carpet. Use a broom so it gets deep into the carpet & 30 minutes later you vaccum it.

Then, buy her a flea collar. With you only having 1 cat, it will be SO much easier to get rid of them.

Good-Luck!

Vacuum, vacuum, vacuum the carpet, floors, couches, chairs, and curtains. Make sure you throw out the vacuum bags or they will eventually crawl out and re-infest your house. You have to do this once or twice a day for weeks until all the eggs have hatched. Wash all your bed linens in HOT water. Throw out or wash all the pet bedding.

If you have seen a few fleas, then there are hundreds there, and more to come from their eggs. Vacuuming alone might work, depending on how bad your infestation is, but if it is bad you'll have to use some sort of insecticide.

I've gotten rid of my fleas by combining aggresive and frequent vacuuming with one of the flea bombs you can buy at the grocery. You close all the doors and windows and put one in the center of the room and leave for an hour. Follow the directions on the label.

You can sprinkle Borax (which you can find in the laundry soap aisle of the grocery store) or diatomaceous earth (which you can get at a garden center) into your carpeting and rake the carpets to let it settle in. I reapply it after each vacuuming. Either of these will help control fleas without chemicals. I live in Florida, have 19 dogs and 7 cats (4 dogs and 3 cats live mostly indoors) and do not have flea problems in my house or kennels with these treatments.
And speaking of chemicals, please find something other than Hartz for your cat. That stuff can be horribly toxic to them. I don't know why it's still on the shelves. You can get Frontline or Advantage online from places like PetShed.com for about half the price of the vet's office.
Don't bother with flea collars, they don't work...

If or when you might get to a market that has stuff like that powdery stuff you can sprinkle on the carpet to give it & the room a fresh scent when you'd vacum.. See if you can also find POWDERY stuff that's meant for FLEAS,ANTS,ROACHES !<-- that sort of thing.. Now if you mean just FLOOR & not the Carpet.. Might I suggest that you sprinkle the stuff as`,sOOn as you mop so it may dry as the floor does!?!or mix a`little bug spray in the mop water or mop & then spray the floor fast so it will all dry together !! watering the effective quality of the bug spray !! But not so watered down that it wo'nt make bugs sick & or kill them!?! ~!!! get it ?? ``R''rr r r r

Be very careful with Hartz, sometimes it can kill kitties. Watch her carefully for the next couple of hours. I'm sorry but I can't think of anything for the carpet. I'm just concerned for your cat.

Try using a powerful vacuum. Don't get your cat a flea collar it does not do anything. Trust me it's a waste of money!
