Will she have to live here by extending the visa in some grounds to complete the 5 year term to apply for the citizenship of India ? Or it will be enough that she got married with a born citizen of India ?As per my previous questions dognhorsemom provided some helpful suggestions by providing a site to visit and check it myself however my this querry is yet to be clear, kindly provide me some valuable and proper information regarding the immigration/citizenship rules of India, other wise she will have to leave for home country after the expiry of her visa.

Firstly to get the citizenship on the basis of marriage to an Indian citizen under section 5(1) (c) of the Citizenship Act the period of waiting is not five years but seven years, this is the latest amendment in the law. Definitely this marriage has to be registered marriage & the certificate issued by the Marriage registrar will only be applicable for applying & getting the citizenship to this foreigner person. Now coming to the immigration for her on the basis of her marriage is concerned, that she can apply on the basis of this marriage certificate & get visa for this for a period of 5 years or as the Home Ministry of India decide, which can be got extended till her stay period for applying for actual citizenship is complete. Many foreigners get this privilege to stay on such visa with their Indian spouse. The very fact the children born to such couples get the citizenship of India because of their birth as well being children of an Indian father, so there won't be any problem for them at all. The period of seven years which was five years some years back & which was no waiting period when this Citizenship Act was enacted has to be complete in any case but once this is complete, the proof of marriage by way of the marriage certificate issued but the Marriage Registrar is sufficient to get the citizenship of India.
