Msgr O'Flaragherty, an Irish priest at the Vatican during World War II, with the unofficial full knowledge of the Pope, rescued Allied soldiers and airmen and also Jews on the run from the Nazis. The Nazi commander in Rome was run ragged by the Irish priest, but failed in every attempt to capture him outisde the security of the Vatican, even though the priest used a variety of disguises to leave the Vatican. The Nazi commander was eventually captured by the Allies and put on trial for war crimes. He was sent to prison where he was visited by the priest who ran him ragged.
