When I found out about the wedding, I bought them a beautiful Taste of Home Cookbook, and also a "5 Ingredient" Taste of Home Cookbook. When they registered, they selected a very nice set of pots and pans that I had hoped to purchase for them along with the cookbooks, but I waited to long and they have been purchased by someone else.

Do you think it would be a nice gift if I gave the two cookbooks and a cash gift of $100.00 which was the cost of the Pans?
Or, should I pick something else from the registery?, Most of the kitchen items have been selected, and towels and cookbooks just dont seem to fit.

Thanks for your input.

I love the silicone items I got. We got a loaf pan, oven mitts and a couple other items out of that

Comes in a lot of different colors.

Another good idea is the accessories for the kitchen aid. Sometimes you register for the kitchen aid and then don't think about the accessories you can clip on the front.

Or you could get some of the odds and ends off the registry. No one got us the under $5 items--garlic press, zester, egg timer, ice cream scoop--that we had to buy with our gift cards. Several of those would go with your theme. Or an apron. Most don't put that on the registry.

Otherwise go with the giftcard--but a gift and a giftcard just seems a little odd to me. After all giftcards are usually from people who didn't know what to get you. As this is your nephew I assume you've got more years of cooking experience. What do you love? Is there something you use all the time that you would love to share with other people? Perhaps you could get them that.

I think the cook books and the cash is just fine. First of all, I do use and love my cook books that I received for my wedding. Every new bride needs some good ideas for meals, even if it is just for when guest come over. Second, I think the cash would be great, bc there is some things they will not get on the registry that you cannot foresee that they will need. No one gave us any silverware at all! If it had not been for the cash and gift cards we received, we would not have had some of the things we needed. Plus they could always use spending money on the honeymoon or grocery money when they return even if they did recieve everything on the registry. You are doing the right thing! Have fun at the shower!

Themed gifts are nice..like the pots with the cookbooks. But they are gonna need their whole household covered..So mix and match would be good, too. Try something else from the registry.

Now I know to jump on registry gifts before someone else takes them, LOL..thanks.

I think the cash gift and cookbooks are excellent gifts...that's what I would have done..or a gift certificate to where they are registered.but ,you never have enough bath towels, kitchen towels,I rarely use.

Cash for a shower is not appropriate but a gift card to the place they registered would be fine.

They'll surely appreciate the money a lot because many gifts arrive "double". Don't you worry...
