With the announcement by Honda about the new Diesel versions of the Accord coming out in 2008, and remembering and verifying with BMW that they also are coming out with Diesel car versions in 2008, all with high MPG ratings, I am thinking of switching to one of those new vehicles.

BUT as I drove around, I realized something very quickly - I cant find a single gas station in the area that has a diesel fuel pump!

So, if you can actually find a diesel fuel pump at a gas station in your area, let me know what name the gas station is - maybe they have a branch in my area!

But if not, let me know too! If nobody can get diesel fuel anywhere, then there is no need to get a diesel car! If I cant refill it, then its useless!

For those that are wondering, they have changed diesel fuel so it no longer smells like it used to years ago, and the new MPG ratings are 68 MPG for the Honda and up to 80 MPG for the BMWs.

Diesel fuel is everywhere (except in California and New York). Except in these states almost every station will have one diesel pump. In CA and NY you can get it at truck stops, and it will become more common at regular stations because of new laws. I have had diesel cars for 20 years and I have never had a problem finding diesel fuel.

No, they have NOT changed the smell of diesel fuel. They have recently taken out most of the sulfur because of air pollution issues, but that has not changed the smell. However, biodiesel is sometimes available and it does not smell like the old diesel, but it is less common and harder to find than petroleum diesel.

I think they should put data in GPS units so that you can search for gas stations that sell Diesel. I just bought a Garmin Nuvi 200 and it doesn't differentiate between what kind of fuel is sold.
Their are two Diesel stations in my town, but if I go out of town I have no idea where to find it.

68 mpg is phenomenal! If you can't find a diesel pump in town, then search the stations on interstate exits. I've ridden cross country in a rental truck before, and we were able to randomly pick gas exits, all of which had diesel pumps.

Not all stations have them, but many do.. enough so that finding diesel shouldn't be a problem.... Diesel cars have been around for decades... Mercedes has had them like forever...
