Whomsoever Allah desires to guide, He expands his chest to Islam; whomsoever He desires to lead astray, He makes his chest narrow, tight, as if he were climbing up to the sky (6:125)

1- When people first heard of the verse of man’s climbing to sky (space) , they considered it as a sort of imagination, and that Quran regards the ascension to space in a metaphorical manner. Actually the verse is a prophecy that came true centuries after it was first revealed.

2- The similitude is very accurate, as climbing to high distances in the air causes chest tightness and the feeling of suffocation. The more the ascension increases, the more tightness reaches so critical and difficult stage that respiration is not possible any more. That’s why oxygen cylinders are taken when ascending up the sky, as in space ships !

I cannot believe how many of you are oblivious to facts and just want to say ''no, you're wrong'' as if that's going to make them right. PEOPLE WHO CLIMB MOUNTAINS (ESP THOSE WHO DON'T REGULARY DO IT) EXPERIENCE AN INABILITY TO BREATHE KNOWN AS ALTITUDE SICKNESS which occurs due to pressure changes. I learned about this in 12th grade, what's wrong with you people.

don't you get it, YOU can NEVER prove the Quran wrong. NEVER, not in a MILLION YEARS. If something, ANYTHING, contradicts the Quran then I would pick he Quran over whatever , why ? here is your answer :

THat verse is completely true, some of you are either being manipulative or just don't know what they're talking about, but it's THE CHANGE IN ALTITUDE that causes this NOT the height itself (I'll use rock climbing as an example here, since aeroplanes are supplied with pressurizers that stabilizie this effect), so during rockclimbing (and even more so with aeroplanes, had they not been supplied with special equipment) the body experiences a shortage of Oxygen due to rapid changes in altitude (And hence changes in pressure). This phenomena is known as Altitude Sickness. Shortage of Oxygen=tightening of chest

try to prove this wrong...

notice how the word ''CLIMBING'' makes all the difference... if the verse had said

'' ... as if he were in the sky'' (6:125)

then THAT would have been wrong. but of course the almighty knows better.

How does this ''it's the the reduced partial pressure of the oxygen in air that accounts for all the various altittude effects. '' disprove, disagree with anything I have said. This is EXACTLY what I said. and actually I'm a believer you're right, but I've studied this phenomena in A level Biology so I know what I'm talking about. I have stated my evidence over and over again you can scroll up and read my explanation, if you just wanna reject it and tell me that I'm wrong that's fine cuz you and I both know that's a bunch of bull..

No one can prove it fake! Quran is the word of God. It is miracle of miracles.

Quran itself challenges to unbelievers to bring their proof if they have any... against it!

Well explained! Thanks.

You got it backwards. If you were taken real high, your chest would expand, and your lungs would rupture. So the similitude is NOT accurate. If you were suddenly in a vacuum, the air in your lungs would expand and your lungs would rupture. People that go scuba diving can rupture their lungs if they surface without exhaling. Sure, your chest would feel tight, if you climbed to a high altitude, but somebody could have discovered that back then. No way was that passage a prophesy of space travel. In order to have a good prophesy, you should be able to tell what it means before the fact. Not just interpret it after wards. In other words, people back then should have been able to say, OH MY! The Koran is saying that we will be going to space some day! They didn't.

You are obviously more of a believer than a scientist.

While there is no doubt that changes in altitutude affect an unassisted human's ability to breathe comfortably, the actual volume of air in the lungs, and hence, the size of the chest does not vary in size.

According to Dalton's Law pf physics, which has been thoroughly proven, and which has been successfully applied to the problems of high altitude aerospace applications, it's the the reduced partial pressure of the oxygen in air that accounts for all the various altittude effects.

Erm. Are you serious or just high.

The Quran is just mythology - little truth in it.

And this passage - well where do you start. In fact, the chest expands when at very high altitude - so on scientific grounds it is 100% wrong. Thats wholly, fully, totally scientifically a false description, entirely in error - just to leave you in no doubt at all.

Which is odd given that even in those days they could climb a mountain and have tested this.

"Surely We have revealed the Remembrance, and surely We shall preserve it" (Qur'an 15:9), 1446 years not one word had being changed.

for those who believe the Koran is fake, i can understand that, they cannot be convinced because they don't know Arabic language, the language is beyond their ability of learning so it's OK if they do not believe.....not like English, for example....very simple and easy language that any illiterate can learn just by listening to the radio for a couple of months

...that's almost a no-brain-er... The "man" Mohammad (unable to read or write)... followed the "moon-god of Arabia"... He saw a piece of space-junk fall from the sky and thought it to be a sign from god... "the rock"... questioned his own thoughts and had "others" write his dreams in a book of spiritual nonsense that some still blindly believe in... a descendant of Ismael, the errant son of Hagar, abandon the God of Moses and Abraham and went his own way... (you shall know the Truth and the Truth shall make you free)

Those who are deaf, dumb and blind will not accept it. Ultimately it is their loss. Quran is the only original book of God which is not distorted like earlier Books of God, Bible & Torah.

Quran is WORD of God in his own sentenses. It is a book of guidance. No body can prove anything or word or syntax or narrration of Quran wrong.

It God really wanted to send us an important message, why give it to a single person inside a cave? Why not write it on the moon, or any passing cloud? Why leave us such an important message in such a suspicious manner? They fact there many be wisdom and truth in the book, doesn't mean it comes from God.
