If it doesn't bother the dog, let it be! your dad is hitting the shedding problem at the source... if the dog is willing, why stop it!?

My dogs love to be vacumed. Each time I get it out, they all lay down in a row on the floor and wait for their turn. Plus, it helps with not having to brush them.

If the beagle doesn't object, I wouldn't worry about it. Your dad is actually doing him a good service. He is pulling up the loose hair, dirt, and probably fleas from your dog. Now my dog.....hahaha....she hides if I turn the vacuum on to do the floor. I can't imagine trying to vacuum her. She foams at the mouth when she is stressed, I can't imagine what she would do at being vacuumed.

Animals may not have a speaking voice, but they WILL let you know if they don't like something. It will be obvious, and if he's staying still while being vacuumed with no attempt at running away and he's staying at his own free will...then he likes it. This could be a bonding with your beagle and your dad...something only they do together. If the dog is not in distress, then you shouldn't be. :D

I can't see that this will hurt the dog, if the dog did not like it or if it hurt he would soon let your dad know. I know of other people who do this some dogs love the fun of it. Don't worry too much and don't let it become a big issue between you and your dad.

I think some dogs do love being vacuumed. It's like a massage to them. And it does get the dirt out of their fur. As long as the vacuum is not too noisy, it's ok.

i don't think that it is a big deal as far as health goes. it will get the loose hair and dirt out. if the dog doesn't care or it is not hurting the dog i think it is ok.

Its funny...we vaccume my dog when she is shedding...I dont think its bad. In fact, when she sees the vaccume she gets all happy and wags her tail.
We dont use a big one, we use like a dust one...lol
