My rat and sneezing?

Ive had my rat for like a year now but he never does this. Hes been sneezing like constantly every now and then and he always makes weird noises not like...squeaking but like sounds like a slurpee cup makes or something, i cant describe it Lol. hes been doing this for some time now. Whats wrong with him =[

I've had quite a few rats and it sounds like a respiratory infection. (quite common in rats) One of mine had this as a chronic condition. Don't panic. Take it to a vet to be medicated. Make sure the room you keep the rat in isn't too cold and make sure there's always plenty of clean water for it.

If you don't get him treated it can turn into pneumonia and become life-threatening.

He's got a respiratory infection, take him to the vet.

Respiratory problems are extremely common in rats and mice. He will probably need a long course of something like Baytril. The condition is likely to reoccur throught the rat's life and need occasional control.

Also, if you're using cedar or pine bedding - stop because it's bad for their lungs.

I would take him to a vet. Check his bedding and make sure you use wood shavings or straw for his cage. My rat died from saw dust in her cage .They breath it in it gets stuck in their lungs and they sneeze alot.

My dog has been doing it as well. Your rat may have allergies to something, or maybe if he has a cage it's something in that, you should clean it if you haven't.

he's sick. Is there any chance he has gotten wet/been in really cold conditions? He may have a cold, or it may be an infection. i would take him to the vet.
