I'm not a Jew, but Orthodox Jews and Traditional Catholics both believe that the Garden of Eden was on earth, as holy Moses teaches us.

Jews believe that the Garden of Eden was in Japan. Have you seen their gardeners?

Most Jews I know believe that the story was meant to be symbolic and allegorical, not meant to be taken word for word. I was raised Jewish and that's what I believe.

Judaism is not actually based on belief as Christianity is, it's more based on principles. More important than the actual literal truth of the story is what we learn from the story about the relationship between God and Man, man's shortcomings, etc. etc.

the story of eden is from the old testament which is the jewish book, the new testament is all jesus and the christian addition.
