Allah has called us: Muslims.

"He hath named you Muslims of old time and in this (Scripture), that the messenger may be a witness against you, and that ye may be witnesses against mankind. So establish worship, pay the poor-due, and hold fast to Allah. He is your Protecting friend. A blessed Patron and a blessed Helper! "

"هو سماكم المسلمين من قبل وفي هذا ليكون الرسول شهيدا عليكم وتكونوا شهداء على الناس فاقيموا الصلاة واتوا الزكاة واعتصموا بالله هو مولاكم فنعم المولى ونعم النصير"

Al Hajj - Pilgrimage- 22: 78

Why don't you guys do something about your Muslim leaders who have hijacked Islam and incite hatred in the name of Allah? It works both ways. My bestfriend is Muslim and I hate how people judge Muslims but if you guys don't get a spine and actually stand up against those who preach hatred in the name of Islam then... obviously people WILL judge you.

Yes, I'm Muslim,
but if someone deviates from the basics of Islam, specially by adding shirk in his belief or religious practises, like making Halool, worshipping, horses, Flags, Mausoleums made of decorative paper and wood, and beating themselves by themselves, I'm not sure what we should call them.
What we should call such people who call some body as another Prophet, after Muhammad pbuh, call him Promised Masseh, or second comming of Issa through rebirth.

A separate hidden group, "She'aan e Ali" had been formed even in the life span of Muhammad pbuh, what should we say to them?

There was an A'jma'a al Ummah to select any one Imam, out of four, like Imam Malik, Imam Shafa'aee, Imam Abu Hanifa and Imam Ja'afer so there is accepted name for follower of any Imam, So I don't think there is harm to be called as Hanafi's, Shafa'aee's Maliki's or Ja'afri's.

I'm Hanafi Muslim.

We are Muslims first and the last. The Hypocrites also were called by the same name but they were understood from their actions and their behavior towards Islam and Muslims.

It's n't wrong if some one follows a specific Jamaah or Mazhab of an Imam (a group or an school of thought within the umbrella of Islam) of Muslims to strive for Islam and work together. Allah praised Sahaba (R.A) calling them Muhajiroon and Ansar just to know them. They did have differance of openion on minor matters. As for the basics of Islam and cause and goal, they were brothers as one nation in all their causes..
When the trench was being dug, one of Muhajireen who was watching Salman Al-Farisi (A companion of the Prophet (PBUH) from Persia), claimed him as a Muhajir (Immigrant from Makkah). "Salman is one of us, Muhajireen," he said. But he was at once challenged by the Muslims of Medina (the Ansar) when they heard this, and one of them said: "No. Salman is one of us, Ansar."

A lively argument began between the two groups of Muslims - the Muhajireen and the Ansar - each of them claiming that Salman belonged to their group, and not to the other group.

Presently, the Apostle of Allah arrived on the scene, and he too heard the argument of the Muhajireen and the Ansar. He was amused by the claims of the two sides but he soon put an end to their argument by saying: "Salman is neither Muhajir nor Ansar. He is one of us. He is one of the People of the House."

So what does this teach us. Even if someone is called by some names because of their method of Da-wa or schools of thought, like Sahaba (RA) we are one to strive for Allah's Deen. We are all brothers in Islam as long as one carries the very basic teachings of Holy Quran and Sunna. We all must be proud of calling ourselves as 'MUSLIMS"

Does one of you like to eat the flesh of his dead brother? (49:12)

The Holy Prophet said, 'Whoever is boldest among you in judging is also the most insolent to Allah'. Does not the judge know that he is the one who has come between Allah and His bondsmen, and that he is wavering between the Garden and the Fire?

The Holy Prophet said, 'It is because giving judgement is such a tremendous affair, in which there is no place for "hopefully", "perhaps" or "may be".

Imam Ali said: Do you know the difference between those verses of the Qur'an which abrogate and those which are abrogated?'

'No'.

'Do you have a command of the intentions of Allah in the parables of the Qur'an?'

'No'.

'Then you have perished and caused others to perish,' the Commander of the Faithful replied.

A judge needs to know the various meanings of the Qur'an, the truth of the Prophetic way, the inward indications, courtesies, consensus and disagreements, and to be familiar with the bases of what they agree upon and disagree about. Then he must have acute discrimination, sound action, wisdom, and precaution. If he has these things, then let him judge.

The origin of slander may be one of ten types: venting one's anger, pleasing other people, suspicion, believing a report without investigating it, having a bad opinion, envy, mockery, astonishment at some action in another which one does not comprehend, dissatisfaction or impatience with others, and embellishment of oneself at the expense of others.

When you heard of it, why did not the believing men and believing women think well of their own people and say, 'This is a manifest lie?' (24:13)

No knowledge have they thereof, nor had their fathers. Monstrous is the word that comes out of their mouths. They speak naught but a lie. (18:6)

Slander eats up good deeds as fire eats up wood. As Allah revealed to Moses, 'The slanderer will be the last to enter the Garden, if he repents. If he does not repent, then he will be the first to enter the Fire.' As He said,

If you seek Islam, then remember the Creator and not the created; then the circumstances of slander will be a lesson for you, and a wrong action will be replaced by a reward.

He grants wisdom to whom He pleases and whoever is granted wisdom, he indeed is given a great good and none but the men of understanding remember. (2:269)

The root of good opinion is a man's belief and the soundness of his heart; the sign of good opinion is that whenever he looks, he sees with the eye of purity and virtue wherever he goes, and modesty, trustworthiness, protection and truthfulness are cast into his heart. The Holy Prophet said, 'Have a good opinion of your brothers: through that you will gain purity of heart and firmness of nature.'

And Ubayy ibn Ka'b said, 'When you see a quality which you disapprove of in one of your brothers, then give it seventy interpretations and see if your heart can be at peace with one of them. If it is not, then blame yourself if you cannot excuse him. If you yourself have a quality which will easily make for seventy interpretations, then you should disapprove of yourself more than you do of him.'

The Messenger of Allah said, relating from his Lord, 'I am with My slave's good opinion of Me, O Muhammad.' Whoever fails to live up to the reality of the gifts which come from his opinion of his Lord has intensified the proof against himself, and is among those who are deceived by the shackles of his passion.

It is a fact that Muslims today, are divided amongst themselves. The tragedy is that such divisions are not endorsed by Islam at all. Islam believes in fostering unity amongst its followers.

The Glorious Qur’an says: "And hold fast, All together, by the rope Which Allah (stretches out for you), and be not divided among yourselves;" [Al-Qur’an 3:103]

The Glorious Qur’an also says: "As for those who divide Their religion and break up Into sects, thou hast No part in them in the least Their affair is with Allah: He will in the end Tell them the truth Of all that they did." [Al-Qur’an 6:159]

So wat I feel is ,is that its wrong to call our selves Shias ,Sunnis,Salafis,,,,Instead we shouls call our selves only Muslims(defination : A person who peacefully submits his or her self to God)

it is useless to call ourselves different names.... "He hath named you Muslims..." not "He hath named you Sunni, Shia, etc" so i think its dumb to call ourselves different names cuz god told us we're muslims and not anything else.
