You mean lots of SPACE...if you know him do what I do. Bring up the fact it is not healthy to be overweight no matter if he is happy with how he looks. IT IS NOT HEALTHY! It increases risks for heart disease, diabetes, strokes, etc. There is nothing good about being overweight except you can over indulge in more food!
If you don't know this person and this person just annoys you then I don't know. I've been teased by some overweight women because I've always been thin. They tease me like some thin people tease overweight people and it was rude. Saying how sad it must be to be me and not eat as much. They just didn't know my tank could hold more than theirs. You'd think I have a hallow leg. Hey it's not my fault I exercise daily and they don't!
Anyways if it's a stranger and it annoys you...steer away from them. If they are making comments to insult you...get em back. They shouldn't get away with teasing either.
Just ask him...are you uncomfortable? If he says why? Say because it sounds like you are having a hard time breathing... is it because you are overweight, that's not healthy!"

Rosa g, after reading your post, I wondered if mean to use the word "hallow", or if it was just a mis-spelling. Why is not okay for others who differ from you to speak negatively of you, but it's okay for you to speak negatively about them?
As for what one can tell the person, it's a touchy subject. My
husband is overweight and I don't care for some of his eating habits or some of his food choices, or lack thereof. Yet, even after rushing him to the ER with chest pain last week, I can still only say so much. Overall, it's his life and health. If he wants to risk them, even at the expense of his wife and baby, then it's his choice. Yes, I do make comments and try and help him, but ultimately, it's up to him.
Yesterday evening, we went to a friend's for dinner. Pizza, breadsticks (white bread, about which I wasn't crazy) and a salad. Being vegan, I had a few breadsticks (needing to eat, as I'm pregnant and I was hungry) and the salad, which was very good an healthy. Later that evening, I commented to my husband, quietly, that I was hungry. White bread does not stay in my stomach long. I forget his comment, but I did say that I at least had my veggies. (Earlier I asked him if he was going to have any salad. He just shrugged.) I couldn't force him to have salad, and I know he likes fruits and veggies. I guess the grease filled him up. (When we got home I had a bowl of Cheerios and Kashi Go Lean! Crunch with soy milk and munched on some natural peanut butter from the jar while I sat at my desk and got some work done.) I'm deeply in love with my husband. He's a wonderful man and after being together for nine years, I'm still in awe that God felt me worthy to be his wife, let alone bless us with a child. I just don't agree with everything he does. It's fair. He doesn't agree with everything I do, yet, he's still in love with me. My husband knows how I feel about some of his eating choices. Yesterday, he had two pork brats for lunch. They were on vegan, whole wheat bread with natural sugar and he did use organic all-natural ketchup. However, he had no fruits or veggies with it. (He also skipped breakfast again, which is a daily habit for him. When he phoned about one and told me he was going to be late because he was sitting in the office while the secretary was at lunch, and said he was hungry, I resisted the urge to tell him he should have had breakfast.)
If you're referring to somebody on the bus, train, etc. There isn't much you can do (and still be a lady) until he moves, you move, or another seat opens and you can move.
